I am sure many of you are aware of the fact that the modern world is, for the most part, devoid of beauty.
What I've notice -- with respect to my person psychology -- is the closer I am to things considered beautiful, the closer I feel to God.
Beauty is an interesting idea. If you read Plato, for example, you will come to understand that the Form of Beauty is among the most important of the Platonic Forms.
I am not here to define beauty -- the idea of beauty is not scientific. It is a matter of intuition. It falls within the sphere of the liberal arts, and cannot be measured with exactness.
The modern world has rejected beauty for several reasons. 1) Beauty is not scientific, and is not measurable. The scientific method is not applicable here. 2) Beauty is not practical. The world has shifted towards pragmatism. We are concerned with functionality and the machine, not what is beautify -- beauty, it seems, is a matter of 'impracticality.' Capitalism is also a caused of the breakdown of beautiful architecture in our cities. Motivated by profit only, the capitalist rejected traditional forms of architecture as well as its ornamentation for more efficient and pragmatic buildings; hence, brutalism. 3) We are a relativized people. I am not necessarily opposed to relativism, but I do believe in maintaining traditional customs. We are now multicultural, and everything, according to our liberal overlords, is beautiful; thus, beauty is nowhere to be found. Establishing a standard of beauty is 'fascism,' and the foremost evil of modernity is fascism; thus, beauty is immoral.
In all, this has a demoralizing effect on your psychology. When you are divorced from beauty, you are divorced from God. When I play piano, I am inspired to do God's will. A beautiful melody, accompanied by a soothing harmony, uplifts the soul.
Now, we have Cardi B, which leaves us debased and in a state of decay.
