Yang's $1000/month UBI will cost 3.42 trillion/year. For 2018, the US spent only 2.65 Trillion on Healthcare, Social Security, Economic Security (Food Stamps, Unemployment Insurance, etc.). His idea is to offer people $1000/mo as an alternative, which will raise the deficit by 770 billion/year. The current deficit is a -$487B deficit, so under Yang, expect a 1.26T/year deficit.
He plans to raise a new Value-Added Tax (VAT) to fund his UBI. However, the US gov already taxes the population at 32% of GDP. Problem is, when the overall tax rate is over 33%, people stop working as hard, and the gov starts losing money even if the gov's goal is to maximize tax revenue.
So I came up with a way for him to get $1000/mo for everyone.
Defund
Health Care: $1.2T Social Security: $995.0B Reduce Defense spending to 125% of China's: $420.7B Economic Security (food stamps, etc.): $272.7B Federal Employee Retiree/Disability: $141.8B Veterans Benefits (ask for better upfront pay like PMCs): $177.4B Community and Regional Development: $20.8B Education (private schools only): $102.6B Farm Assistance and Agricultural Programs (no more corn subsidies): $22.9B Energy (privatize energy): $2.8B International Development/Humanitarian Assistance: $27.1B Foreign Military Aid: $12.4B (Israel got $6B/year)
And you get 3.25 trillion back. US Adult population is 252 million. With the money back each person can get $1000/year and the gov will still have a $370.8B surplus
So yes, you can YangGang 2020 if you defund more than he said he would.
Interest on the Debt (Fixed): $295.4B Legal, Judicial, and Correctional System: $31.8B Border Security and Domestic Law Enforcement: $31.2B Other Government (Fixed): $21.4B (IRS [tax collection], Executive Office of the President, Office of Personnel Management) Congress: $4.0B Highways, Railroads, Other Surface Transportation: $61.8B Water and Air Transportation: $32.2B NASA and Other Scientific Research: $31.6B National Parks and Natural Resources: $34.6B Environmental Protection Agency: $8.8B Embassies and Other Foreign Affairs: $12.9B
You can probably save even more if you cut those.
Yang's bag is possible, but not the way he's going about it.

You'd get some of the money back through tax revenue by increased consumption.

It's my understanding that everyone gets this $1000? Even if you're on $100k a year or whatever? Does it replace all other benefits / welfare? If this was your only income, would you get taxed on it? Is $12k a year livable on?
"According to the US Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), 2,220,300 adults were incarcerated in US federal and state prisons and county jails in 2013 – about 0.91% of adults (1 in 110) in the U.S. resident population. Additionally, 4,751,400 adults in 2013 (1 in 51) were on probation or on parole."

>yang can just get elected by campaigning on getting rid of veterans benefits and government pensions >just delete healthcare and social security so we can have yeetbux
So, you did some math, but you didn't do any politics. Please explain how any one politician is gonna make ANY of that happen without being a total dictator. Pick any ONE of your suggestions and explore the political ramifications of getting it through congress.

It's almost as if it's supposed to destroy the system
I'm not sure if he'd call himself Chinese or Taiwanese, definitely not from the People's Republic. But I guess Jow Forums just wants $1000/mo so they can start their own right wing death squad
Thomas Long
Just think about how many brown people we can kill with a $1000/month allowance for big daddy Yang. It would be a white man's paradise after the first month.
Yeah well, I did some napkin math myself on the VAT and it looks pretty ugly. VAT gets applied at all levels, so a quick and dirty comparison with same markups looks like this: First case, no VAT: >Materials guy extracts and sells 1kg iron for let's say $1.00 >Production guy buys it, produces 1 widget, and sells for $1.10 >Wholesaler buys it, warehouses it, transports it, and sells to retailer for $1.20 >Retailer buys it, and sells it to you for $1.30 >You buy it, pay 10% sales tax, total payment $1.43 Second case, 10% VAT >Materials guy extracts and sells 1kg iron for $1.00 + VAT = $1.10 >Production guy buys it, produces 1 widget, and sells for $1.20 + VAT = $1.32 >Wholesaler buys it, warehouses it, transports it, and sells to retailer for $1.42 + VAT = $1.56 >Retailer buys it, and sells it to you for $1.66 + VAT = $1.83 >You buy it, pay 10% sales tax (since no state will repeal their existing sales tax), total payment $2.01 ($2.01/$1.30)*100 = 155% Which is an immediate increased cost of 55% and an immediate reduction in purchasing power. And this will happen suddenly across the entire economy.

What does nazism and white supremacy have to do with yang
Ah, the ol' split the vote maneuver. Ok As a Yang backer, what am I to do when Yang backs out and supports the Sanders/Beto ticket? Do my vote(s) go to Sanders/Beto?
Samuel Miller
Yeah, increasing taxes beyond 33% will just fuck everything over.
William Clark
Oh, so it would be a quick subversion of the given funds towards right wing death squads
UBI would also most heavily benefit midwest states and encourage economic growth there.
If you're the type where $1000 extra a month is a drastic difference in quality of life, then you may try to maximize affordability.
If you get $1k per month regardless of county then you might have a migration of lower class people from the coasts to the midwest. $1000 goes a lot farther in Missouri or Arkansas than it does in California

Think he just meant to actually itemize shit rather than run the >dude watch the interview Meme. Writing numbers down paints a much different image than the shit that comes out of his mouth
Wew there’s few times I enjoy numbers but this makes me hard, and I’m a fucking accountant. Quantifying retarded ideas is always nice though

YANG 0% LOL shilling this hard. You really want your $ dont you?
Logan Rogers
I'm not even American dude. Who you vote for is up to you. I'm just analyzing how much your government spends on stupid shit, and how much more they're going to spend if Yang gets elected and implements UBI without any government service cuts.
