To my knowledge, it's possible to get in massive trouble for copyright violations in the US, especially when you show them to an audience.
You need other witnesses, other students who can confirm your report. And then you need to figure out the proper way to report him. I'd do it. Just claim that you're the good honest guy who defends the law and other people's rights.
