Well right now the Russians just have a token force there. It appears as if they are considering pulling what they are in Syria, and that is hampering US forces from eventually overthrowing Maduro. If they did eventually start bolstering their forces, it could seriously hamper US operations since Moscow believes the US isn't willing to risk a larger war with them over Venezuela. However Venezuela is much further away from Russia than Syria, and committing a larger force to fuck with the US in their own backyard presents a lot of issues, especially if things start going south with Venezuela. The Russians working with a smaller force isn't as effective, however they can pull the fuck out quickly if the country goes into total chaos. Having a massive force wouldn't be as easy to evacuate, and it's spreading their shit pretty thin operating that far away. The US may consider amping things up if the Russians begin moving supplies and signalling that they intend to commit more forces.

A direct war with Russia would weaken both of our positions as global powers and would be easy for China to exploit. Biggest happening scenario would be proxy war via Brazil.

I didn't mean that the United States is going to step up and attack Russians. Currently the US is satisfied with working with Brazil and Columbia encouraging military defections, and using the threat of military intervention to discourage Maduro from cracking down on dissenters. However the arrival of more Russian troops will embolden Maduro and he would be less fearful of the threat of US intervention should he start cracking down. So the US amping things up would be to do something before the Russians can entrench themselves militarily. Also the arrival of more Russian forces could even force the hand of dissidents in the military to attempt a coup sooner due to the same fear of the US not being able to back them up.

Basically Maduro isn't going to move against Juan Guaido for fear of US military intervention. More Russian troops in the country make US military intervention harder and would embolden Maduro, but also may force the hand of those opposed to him to act before the US can't. I really do not see the US engaging with Russian forces. More like moving pieces around to block.

Also the US wouldn't like the idea of Russians having a base so close to them and may try to destabilize the entire country to make the Russians not able to be stationed there because it's too dangerous.

So are we working with the chinese? Because I see a lot of signs, not just in venezuela, that the chinese have a big influence in our country.
