Unironically? Sobriety programs, halfway houses, and job placement programs (especially infrastructure). There would also need to be in patient help for the mentally ill. However, these would be strict regarding maintaining sobriety and good behavior. Otherwise, as people have said, destroying/confiscating the trash they leave everywhere and effectively treating them as persona non grata/outlaw if they don't want to get with the program. Honestly that’s the one thing I see police as useful for. Clean up the fucking parks after dark. Sometimes they make a little camp outside my street where I live, right in front of the old closed whole food in Capitol Hill. Like I have to step over fucked up people just to get to the god damn liquor store. I’ve straight up seen a hobo with a homemade sword yelling and shouting, attacking a telephone pole like practicing his moves or some shit. No one was even bothered in the slightest. I’ve seen some wild shit in the mountains too.

99% of homeless are having substance abuse issues. If you sober, you could pull yourself out of this shit - there are plenty of means and opportunuties in western world.

It's why i left Whittier. Lived in a decent neighbourhood, until they stopped keeping the homeless out. This empowered the homeless to do whatever they wanted. In the 2 years before I moved out there was a surge in home and car break-ins. My car was broken into twice, just forced open. Then it got stolen and left a few cities over. They figured it was a homeless guy because the booze and some of the junk in my trunk was gone. Asshole left my car running on the side of the road and fucked up my engine. And my suspension. Cops knew it was a homeless guy from the lingering piss smell (which came out, small mercy).

If this is really and truly the case and they don't want help, EVERY needle should be filled with a lethal dose.

the truth is it's both. Some are homeless because of drink and drugs, and others began using drink and drugs heavily once became homeless or once problems became immeasurable before they eventually became homeless.

It's a problem. But we can only help those who want the help. Some get used to the limbo of it and have no shame anymore to beg, and they're fine with it as long as they have their dope. The dope is a safety blanket, no matter how bad for their health it is.

That's what you get for letting the Commiefornians in.

I'd round them all up and give them a day to gather their things and give them three options.
1. Eat some lead.
2. Be marched out of the country Trail of Tears style.
3. Work in some very hard labor camps to earn back their right to leave.
