He'd still be a better choice than most MPs because he would not want that kind of power so would hopefully be humble with it, and he would protect your liberties and freedoms, even if it cost him to do so. He wants a written constituition for the UK, codified.

This is some high school level of naivety. Even if that happened to be the case (unlikely, but possible), changing the PM doesn't change the whole political system. He'd either have to make concessions to his cabinet and party, most of which are in it for the money and power and will be pressing for some sort of status quo to grow fat upon, or be eaten alive by them in a matter of months.
