The idea of individualism is infantile. Only a baby sees themselves as an individual and center of the universe. As the child grows up he realizes self reliance is not enough for him to survive and he learns how to interact with the world and others around him. This is his real identity, a member of a collective as a means of survival. There's no such thing as a "real man" without having a community of men. It's a completely failing survival strategy to cut yourself off from a group identity. It's completely opposed to all observable nature to think otherwise. To say identity politics is erroneous is nonsensical and he has not provided a single point to the claim. Politics is identity. That's all it is. Politicians dont help pass laws for any out group or country. Only the people who's identity is of the ingroup. Example, a rich Mormon only hiring Mormons for the top positions in his company while the the Protestants don't care and hire anyone including Mormons - will lead to more Mormons in top positions not based on merit.
