It really should have won Best Picture at the Oscars. Clearly, we need the old, white males in the Academy to die off before diverse films, like Black Panther, can start winning the awards they deserve.

All Marvel movies are fun, but BP is full of plot holes, terrible scripting, and poor filmmaking. On top of that, it's very demeaning towards blacks on two points:

1) The film suggests Africans apparently cannot create any sort of technology unless it literally falls into their lap from outer space, and

2) even with all that advanced technology and knowhow, Wakanda still has no practical ruling structure. The society is still based on tribes and a very primitive adherence to "ruler by combat". Government follows philosophy which comes from learning and critical thinking. BP suggests that the Wakanda nation is not capable of such.

I was always a big fan of the comic character, but Ryan Coogler made a film that should have insulted every black person that watched it.

It's not even among the best of the MCU films.
