Russia is a shit hole country indeed but for other reasons. The reasons are, for example, the economy centred around gas/oil exports, controlled by bunch of cronies and the corruption in state institutions.
Islam isn't a big issue here. Muslims have been in Russia since the beginning and they live predominantly in their regions. Some working migrants come here from the former USSR, they do petty crimes but they're in Moscow and SPb and it's an insignificant part.
The Russian government is conservative and reactionary enough so right wing isn't in a huge demand, the Russian opposition is liberal leftists nowadays.
