How do I fast without my parents finding out? I'm very overweight and it's negatively impacting my health. I've tried diets but it's not enough. My parents will often force me to eat. They've also given me a complex about wasting food. I don't want to just throw it away. Any tips would be appreciated.
Hiding a long term fast
fast is not good for your health.
Eat as much as you want but as long as it is healthy.
Also go outside for a walk daily.
Leave the house and return back after a short while. Tell them you have eaten outside.
Do this often enough you'll start to burn some calories as well.
What?
Just tell them you are on a diet. Go to the gym, go for a run once a day.
Exercise is far more important than food as far as dieting is concerned.
I'm not allowed to choose what we eat. I have to cook them exactly what they want or I'll get kicked out of the house.
This is a good idea except I don't have money for food, so I have a feeling that they'd be suspicious.
Smaller portions. You don’t need to starve yourself. The less you eat over time the less hungry you are, also eating regularly keeps the metabolism running
>or i’ll Get kicked out of the house
This is probably what you need to survive, user
I've tried that already and it's just not working. I only eat one meal a day at dinner. Any less and my parents get angry at me, saying I'm starving myself despite the fact that I'm 80lbs overweight.
>one meal a day
>parents say you starve yourself
They are right, and probably concerned for your well-being. You being overweight does not mean you don’t need to eat. Try eating small portions throughout the day instead of only eating once
I don't see how that would make any difference. They'll still make me eat a plate at dinner, regardless of how much I eat during the day. Consuming more calories isn't going to make me lose weight.
Long term fast is difficult to hide.
I have been doing one meal a day for 8 months now and it have been great. I lost 30kg in 6 months and then I stabilized on a normal bmi. I didn't tell anyone I was doing it, I just did it.
I also worked out 30-45 minutes a day, walked 45 minutes a day and biked 45 minutes a day.
I eat lunch because I live alone and didn't want to isolate myself from my coworkers but you get the idea.
It is possible!
You should see a nutritionist
Trust me, I'm working on it. I might be able to leave by the end of the year but I don't want to wait that long to make progress on weight loss.
Just say you already ate earlier. Say you fixed something for yourself while they were doing something else
This might work. My father is home 24/7 but I guess I could make some noise in the kitchen while he's watching TV and say I was prepping some food... I'm still worried that they're going to make me eat dinner anyway but it's worth a try. Thank you.
My bf is also home 24/7. Just move some clean plates to the dish drying rack to make it look like you actually did.
I've been using myfitnesspal app to count calories. It's been working very well for me. I was 5'9 220lbs, now I'm 205lbs. Goal weight of 150lbs.
Also been doing bodyweight exercises every other day. Agonizing first two weeks, now it's enjoyable.
Fasting isn't healthy and might put you in a worse situation. Sit your parents down and tell them that you want to lose weight. A gym membership or a diet. That kind of stuff.
How is it bad? Our ancestors went without eating regularly. It's the entire reason we store so much fat in the first place compared to other animals.
No. Fasting is absolutely fine.
Obviously you need food to survive, but you don't need to overeat 6 times a day, THAT is unhealthy.
I have been testing it out for a long time myself and it is great. Obviously, I need to make sure my diet is balanced, but you won't die or get sick from only eating once a day. There are several doctors who do it too, and I am sure they know more about food than I do.
If OP is fat, this is an easy way to loose weight. It he needs to work out or you just deteriate while you do it, but it is a healthy way to loose weight.
A coworker started to loose weight before I did and he did some diet where he carefully made premade meals, basically eating the same stuff every day.
It took him twice as long as I did to loose the same weight and he have excess skin from when he was fat. My skin shrank with my body, within a month, I was visibly smaller, 6 months later, I was 3 sizes down in both shirts and pants.
It works, no doubt about it.
And loosing that weight makes it easier to work out. Honestly, you have no fucking idea how hard it is to hear "just work out bro" from everyone when you get exhausted from going up the stairs, tying your shoes or running 50 meters.
You cannot just start to work out from that state. What I did was walk more. In the evening when I would normally prepare and eat a meal, I just walked out of my house and didn't come back before I it was so late I might as well fall asleep instead of eating.
Loosing the first 10kg meant a lot. I could suddenly jog for 10 minutes a day and then go for a walk and building yourself up to where you actually can do it.
>There are several doctors who do it too, and I am sure they know more about food than I do.
Lol no they really don't.
t. doctor (not a nutritionist though)
The big advocates are Rhonda Patrick and Peter Attia.
They seem to be knowledgeable on the subject and it doesn't seem like they are crazy conspiracy theorists or science deniers.
you don't really need to fast all the time, just skip a meal or two and make people you think you already ate. that's the key..
whenever your parents try to make you force eat something just postpone it later, when you cannot be in their presence, saying i'm not feeling like, i'm not hungry, just got something from the fridge stuff like that
One thing you can do is stopickpile healthy food. Fruits and vegetables. Learn how to make something good with them.
The thing is, you will feel hungry. But you can't eat shit anymore. So when you do feel hungry, grab an apple or two, bananas, whatever, these things really fill you up.
That with exercise and you'll see the results in no time OP
