It's politically impossible in the US to put in a new gibs and take away an old gibs. We just add gibs on top. It makes no sense, but that's the way it is. There is zero chance that $1000 UBI is implemented and there's a means test or anything else placed on the old gibs, like EBI cards and WIC. Won't happen.

They don't have to get together retard. They'll all know "Well, all of our tenants have more money, and everyone who wants to rent has more money". Tenants and potential tenants can offer more money as well, particularly in high demand areas. Then people will say "Oh my god housing prices have gone up, we have to do something", and in comes price controls, which exacerbate the problem.
Ultimately this will do nothing but get money into the hands of bureaucrats and politicians. Since all the prices go up, it won't be able to buy people goods like it did at first, so everyone will need more "free money". It will be bastardized by every politician trying to promise their constituents shit, and it isn't even a good idea in the first place.
How about you let productive people spend (or save) money how they see fit. Giving people "free" money won't magically make them productive. Take a look at what the war on poverty has done. Decades of lowering poverty rates, 1964 starts the war on poverty, 1970, poverty rates stop going down and stay pretty stable. Now there is a permanent underclass who wants gibs, and a party who keeps promising them free shit, which will never actually help.
Not to mention, a VAT will by itself increase prices you fucking shill.
