Nothing weird about it. Do it myself on occasion. No more weirder than watching Netflix alone. Going to the theater you go to enjoy the big open fresh dark room with a massive screen and great audio which you don't have at home. You would watch that movie at home by yourself anyways. I've watched The Force Awakens, Blade Runner 2049, Thor Ragnarok, and other films by myself at empty theaters. It was actually better because no one bothering you. It's like watching movies at home alone but with a better set up. Even at home someone might bother you, but not in an empty theater. And I'm not some asocial beta virgin whateverthefuck. Sometimes I just want to enjoy a good film (like Bladerunner 2049) by my damn self so I fucking make it happen.
