What am I susposed to tell normies when they ask what music I listen to?

Kinda realted, what should I tell people when they ask what TV series I like? I only watch anime and I don't want to reveal my power level.

I just say I dont watch TV/Netflix. I think this is more appropriate than saying you dont listen to music cause its more believable.

I like pretty much everything. I tell people that I like everything, but for background noise I like that lo-fi hip-hop study music.

If you aren't comfortable talking about what you choose to do with your free time then I'd suggest you're spending it poorly or need to find a more niche friend group.

You may be right about spending my free time poorly. I just lift weights then watch anime or play vidya until sleep. Getting new friends is out of reach for me, I haven't been able to do that since high school.

I came to the realisation a while back that if I'm too ashamed to tell people what I've been doing then it needs to change. I seem happier.

Well they don't look too shocked because I already look like a metalhead. Most people just nod, smile and carry on talking about other things. People really don't care. No one accused me of being an autist or satanist or an emo or whatever.

At worst people won't know what it is or think it's a bit weird but they won't judge you nowhere near as much as you think, at best you'll find a fellow metal lover.

I dont listen to all electronic, only experiment electronic. And I dunno why it's bad, everyone here listens to the same music so I know 100% they wouldn't even know what I'm saying. I'm talking about college frat parties here, that's where I encounter lots of normies. If I was in a different setting I wouldn't lie.

Just say Radiohead, that’s what I do. Although privately I listen to shit like early Sepultura, Morbid Angel, Dark Funeral and some modern black metal like Oathbreaker.

just say "heavy metal". Even if what you listen to is too raw for normies, its nothing they'll find too abhorrent to see you poorly for as long as you don't force it on them. If they ask to sample some stuff you like show them something you'd consider accessible and if they don't like it just say "yeah its not for everyone" or something and move on. Normalffags can be pretty big scumbags about your personal tastes but with music you aren't as likely to get shit for it if you mostly keep it to yourself

I doubt they'd give you as weird a face as when I say, "I don't listen to music." I ended my Pandora subscription and stopped paying for internet, so all I hear is whatever plays in stores and restaurants.

I find this question tough to answer too. I don't listen to much music at all except random game sound tracks and the odd Beatles song....so I always just end up naming random bands I only know one or two songs from as a response to the question.
