To be honest, I totally did talk to people on my commute, back when I did. I think I may even have exchanged numbers with a guy from that before. Something that I would have chatted about:

You might practice just having little exchanges like that with any random person, and if the conversation peeters out, don't panic, and just sit quietly like you would normally on the bus. If you keep doing this, it'll become more natural to you and you'll find the conversations get longer and maybe you'll really connect with a girl.

You should get out of the house to participate in regularly scheduled activities. That way you consistently see the same group of people who share an interest with you. That's a very easy road to friendship.

Try to go out somewhere socializing is acceptable and even expected sometime. A bar, a concert, a convention, a fair.

Bars on weeknights aren't super busy and annoying and packed with normies making you feel bad about how shy you are, it's usually people stopping for a drink after work by themselves or with couple coworkers at the most. Show up, sit down, order a drink, say hello to the people next to you and ask them about their day and tell them about yours. Some of those people will be women, some of those women will be potential fucks. Just being a regular at a bar and developing the appropriate social skills there will get you more pussy than the best Tinder profile around.
