Blocking scripts prevents certain Javascript from running in your page. That said, Brave's solution is not the most elegant. NoScript for Waterfox, Pale Moon, or old FireFox is better. uMatrix is best for chromium or new FireFox browsers (Brave is chromium based).

If you want increased privacy, fuck around with blocking scripts with NoScript or uMatrix to see what works and what doesn't. Once you figure it out, you can hit a "lock" button on uMatrix, or "Make Permissions Permanent" on NoScript.

On places like Jow Forums, it's easy. Just block anything that isn't Jow Forums, 4cdn, or 4channel. Of course, blocking google scripts means it'll block recaptcha, which means you'll need to buy a pass.
