The only 2 women are competently written throughout the entire story Are Olena and Cersei and even then the moment Olena actually takes over leading Highgarden she get's into a war that causes her house to fall. Cersei ends up bankrupting the kingdom and Jamie has to bail her out. Danaerys still fails at everything just like the books but she finds deus ex machina ways out in the show instead of Martin's endless stream of new male heroes that save her, but it's still the same she's an incompetent leader. Her whole purpose in the story is to remind everyone of the Targareyns and their claim to the throne for the Jon reveal.
