It's also why it's impossible to see your ancestry if you're a girl. Girls have to have their brothers or father get DNA tested if they want to know their ancestry.
Men however, have exceptions. So if you're a man and you're different from other men, it's tempting to believe that the same is possible for women. But it's not. All women are essentially the same, whereas all men are not the same.
