You're the only one benefiting, user. And your lack of empathy is why you're unable to see why that makes you an asshole.
Hudson Morris
i mean isn't that also the dominant value instilled by living in a capitalist society?
Luke Bennett
If you're aware you happen to be mentally ill then do something to improve your mental stability. A lot of people think they're ok and don't do anything about their problem.
Liam Murphy
Does that make any less immoral?
Isaac Martin
but see, where do we get morality from?
if it's just based on what's popular at the time, it's moral to kill heretics
if it's based on religion, that's easily dropped
basically, no god = do whatever you want as long as you don't face consequences
Jace Sanders
Then why are you concerned that you fit the bill of a sociopath?
i figured there must be a few lurking around on a mongolian knitting forum
Adam Price
I think morality exists because True Reality exists. Whether or not we can comprehend it in its entirety is a different question all together. However, if you assume True Reality exists (as in, things ARE a certain way as opposed to other ways), morality is simply adhering to the True Reality or not. So in my mind, Morality IS. It’s up to you to be moral or not, and that’s kind of what religions are for the brainless. It explores the True Reality, and uses that as a standard for how one “should” behave. I think you should ask yourself not if you believe in God, but if you believe in a soul. Then, ask yourself what you believe about the content of that soul. Is it eternal? Or finite? Is it made of your experiences, or is it created by an outside source?
If things like losing your gf isn't what you'd consider a consequence then good luck trying to even emulate, much less live a functional life.
Lincoln Martinez
don't get me wrong, i only don't care because of how shitty she was being
but i live a more than functional life, i've got a degree, my own business and things are looking great I mean theoretically there could be some kind of celestial essence, but i have no way of knowing that's true and also seems to be the kind of "revelation" you get from taking too many shrooms
it seems more likely to me we're just animals who have intelligence
Adrian Brooks
So you think you are just a grand animal! Doesn’t make you a sociopath, but definitely frees you from morality. Animals are animals, it’s kill or be killed out there. No room for empathy or reason. If you don’t decide yourself about the Truth, no one will ever do it for you. You are the only one who has to live with your life decisions in terms of how you behave towards others. You’re not a sociopath, you’re just hedonistic and animalistic. Your consciousness centers are below your waist.
Caleb Mitchell
i've always like the nietzsche notion that man is between beast and god
i like to think we can go closer to ubermensch status
Logan Mitchell
According to every scripture, that’s essentially what we are. Lesser than the angels greater than the animals. Doesn’t matter which scripture you look at, which canon follow up. That’s the idea. It follows that you can decide to level down, so to speak, or level up. The sociopathic way, as OP is discussing, is generally to stay as low as possible while still not being an animal.
Charles Hill
>where do we get morality from?
Genetics. Morality is not a construct. Much of it is wired into our genetics. Stuff we are born knowing because it helps us function in a pack or herd. Like, you know not to play in actual shit because you could get sick and die. Or to not fuck a vagina that smells weird or is covered in warts.
You however are brokan. It is in your best interest to move towards fixing it. If society collapsed and we went back to tribes, the alpha Male would eventually get tired of your shit and have the group club you to death.
Christopher Rodriguez
And I wanted to add, that I agree with you about the Uber Mench. The point of morality in my mind is to guide us to higher states of being. People get low level about it, saying it’s for control, and brainwashing. But at the end of the day, we make our own choices. Nobody but us.
Owen Myers
This is just apologetics for shitty behavior. There are plenty of animals that aren't all kill or be killed.
Eli Garcia
i am the OP, and i'd argue that the sociopathic way is closer to godhood than animal
gods don't have any regard for lesser beings
Ian Sanchez
>implying i wouldn't be the alpha male through manipulation and ruthlessness
Gabriel Fisher
Yeah, higher level animals. Elephants, dolphins… The higher the consciousness, the less likely senseless violence is to occur, or rather, to be the norm. I don’t think accusing someone of being animalistic is an excuse for poor behavior, I genuinely think that is the reason for the behavior. You are saying that they have control over their choices, so they should face the music. I agree. I am just saying, that’s the reason why OP doesn’t care about morality, is because he is more animalistic than others. So, it is less important.
Mason Young
According to whom? Anyone can run around naked in the woods, hunt for their food, and have sex with any female that they rape, but who among us can perform miracles? Who among us can fly, or heal, Anything you consider Godhead capable of doing? Is it the people who choose hedonism that achieve these things of spiritual Mi anything you consider Godhead capable of doing? Is it the people who choose hedonism that achieve these things of spiritual merit? Not typically. There is a reason that every religion uses some sort of meditation and self regulation. It is not because they hate you and want you to feel bad about having human urges. It is because doing those things helps the spirits rise above its natural state, which is close to the animal. This is why I said originally that you should consider what you believe about the soul. Once you decide what you are for yourself, you will know what morality means to you. Sorry about the posting. Don’t know what’s gotten into my machines.

go to a shirnk, dont self diagnose
Oliver Parker
Why are you asking us? If you don't care then live your best life and move on. If you do care or find it a problem, then go seek professional help to get a proper diagnosis and treatment.
I'm also a diagnosed sociopath and completely indifferent to the issue. It does put a lot of strain on my personal relationships and I have to work twice as hard to learn simple things about people's feelings but it doesn't have to be horrible.
Honestly, if this is how you approach things then you just sound childish. I'm not insulting you, I have my moments too. But there's a difference between doing things for your own benefit and purposely choosing a destructive path when you know better. That's the line between healthy and unhealthy. You can cower behind any excuse you deem appropriate but it doesn't change the implications of your behavior.
