It's not a new thing. Most Indians here understand what happened during the dogfight except a few nationalist npcs.
The IAF has always been inferior to the PAF, even in the wars we won, we always had a higher Air Force loss than Pakistan. In the 1962 war which India lost to a humiliating defeat against China, the PLA was able to deploy it's Air Force and BTFO Indian positions. There were 12,000 indian personnel Vs 80,000 Chinese, so we were numerically outnumbered but the war only lasted a month.
The difference being that Pakistan gets its weapons from the US as an ally, while we mostly have to either buy or develop our own tech.
And the DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation), is riddled with corruption. This dogfight was necessary, it exposed the army's weakness.

Say what you want about Pakistanis but they're willing to fight for Allah and the Khilafat. That sort of killer instinct was not awakened amongst the Indians, ever, until recently. The strike at Balakot was unsuccessful, but it was probably the first fucking time in this country's 5,000 year history that we actually invaded another country, unprovoked. Failed, but one learns from failure.

There were many audio recordings released of terrorists actually panicking that night. Also a paki major went to that village and said 'we'll avenge it"(video). The number 300 maybe exaggerated by the media but you can be sure of 70ish kills minimum

Indian airforce was vastly superior to China in 1962. Nehru decided to not use air force in the battle (whatever his reason was) . Those were times when we could get ahead of china (economically and everything) but we missed that opportunity and fucked it up.
