how many athiests have actually read the bible? I used to be an athiest and literally laughing at people who went to take communion in church (i went to catholic private school) but after reading even the first few chapters of genesis idk anymore.
I have been reading through a lot of other ancient religions like sumerian scripture, ancient egyptian, zoroastrianism (avesta) and there are some eery specific similarities between all of them that makes me wonder whether it may actually be true... I'm about 50/50 whether or not it's true now idk.
any anons here that went from full blown athiest to believer?
You do know it was the devil that opened the mind of man right?
Jack Richardson
Im old enough to remember school asemblies everyday with bible readings. I went to a church of england school when that mattered and also went to Sunday school for a few years. I must have been an ugly kid because the vicar never bummed me lol.
Anyway. Read a lot of the bible and heard nearly every story Im sure. I loved the stories but take them as what they are, stories. Much like the feel good US tv shows with the final thoughts of the 80s and much shoulder laughing. I treasure those stories and feels.
Im an atheist and feel that maybe Im a better person for the stories but it doesnt mean I see a need for a god in those stories. God didnt appear in may of them, a particularly bad one was a father killing his son to prove his love to god. God seemed like a bit of a dick I thought.
Im not against religion or spirituality but its not for me. Im a conservative by nature from the Thatcher Reagan mould. Im a nationalist and not particularly fond of homos and other sexual deviants.
It would be nice to dispel the myth that all atheists are liberals. Far from it.
Ascend to agnosticism. Admit the truth, you don't know nor does anyone else.
Cameron Hughes
I have read a little but I cringe reading that garbage. The way it's written is just awful. And it's delusions about gods and angles makes me feel embarrassed for humanity for taking it serious. I can see a lot of what I read as metaphors and simple just saying be a good person but the fact that it wants to be taken serious and literal is frankly laughable. It's the same crap from the first page to the last, I don't need to read the whole thing

Remember, the Word of God has many counterfeits. Only one is true.
Cosmic Codes by Chuck Missler details the mathematical and cryptological proofs for the Bible.
It's true. The End is nigh. The time to choose Jesus is now.
lol Chrsitian here, what the fuck are you on about with the "first few chapters of Genesis" being captivating? That's not the part of the Bible that has any of the redpills you fucking sperg.
becoming a believer again after a period of atheism is achievable through other means but it isn't going to come from reading the creation myth lmao
Zachary Morris
>a particularly bad one was a father killing his son to prove his love to god. Abraham didn't kill his son. The entire point was that all the surrounding false religions literally required the death of the first born.
Genesis 22:11-13 King James Version (KJV) >11 And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. >12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. >13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
God tested his faith. God provided His own lamb many, many, many years later. That same mount Abraham went to offer his son is the same mount Jesus was crucified on.
Of course an atheist thinks he knows more than the followers
John 8:37-47 King James Version (KJV) >47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

Easton Gomez
it may be a maturity thing. i went through the edgy atheist phase. started getting in to religion to find some relief from mental/emotional turmoil from being an unkind person.
went through islam, found it to be very self-hating. buddhism and meditation is great. hinduism and the bagavad gita are honestly good works. but it was only through love and faith in Lord Jesus Christ that i found any peace of mind or heart. this means more to me than i could easily convey through this text. by the time i was 14 or so i had seriously hurt people in many ways. verbal, physical, sexual abuse of friends, family, pets. lived in the projects, stomped a head in to the ground, stole many things, light fires, broke and entered houses, etc, etc.
literally only the redemptive power of the love of God through faith in Lord Jesus Christ, is the reason why i didnt an hero, or go full tarrant crazy around 2015-ish. i spent the last few years off and on homelessness, much BS. the bible is something i read daily. it means more to me than i can readily describe. i can comfortably look at myself in the mirror because of Jesus Christ.
Take this for what you will, its the way i see it

Those religions are all from around 500 miles of eachother, user. I think there are reasons they have similar elements, and I don't think those reasons are supernatural. If there was a massive flood in the Fertile Crescent long ago, a lot of people would remember it, for example, and the story would get passed around for a long time.
It would fucking rule for Christ to be real. After I die I will not exist. This is a depressing fact. I don't think Christianity is true because all of its tenets are directly in conflict with observable truths about the world - it tells you some things, and those things are provably wrong. But, it would be better if god was real, because in fact the situation we have where death is the final end is just cruel.
Most atheists are not "sinful" people. We do not steal, we do not kill. So whatever stupid shit about willfully not believing in your religion just so we can sin is dumb as hell.
Nathan Hernandez

Matthew 19:4-6 King James Version (KJV) >4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, >5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? >6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Mark 10:6-9 King James Version (KJV) >6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. >7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; >8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. >9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

literally didn't say that you colossal fucking idiot. The context of why the Bible is important takes place throughout the book and it requires reading much of it or all of it in totality to comprehend it. Just going "WOW LOOK AT THESE OLD RECOLLECTIONS" at the beginning of Genesis is spectacle-fueled shitheadedness. Be a thinker and read the whole book instead of liking the Hollywood bits.

I believe in God just not the one formalized religions write of. I believe we are on a journey to get to know God. There are some good training wheels out there but they're not the big picture. Man condenses beliefs every so often.. 1000 years or so after the world cycles into tragedy and comes back out of it. This is what religion is. Nothing more or less.
So, like any good book, I read the various religious books, take the fruits and leave the rest behind. The history of religion demonstrates its an ever evolving conceptual framing. 1000 years from now, people will laugh at all of the current modern religions just as we do many older religions. Yeah, the theology/bullshit claims/clearly written by men side of the bible that a faith only brain cuck never gets into. Knowing that the bible descends directly from the Torah, any well read individual reads that too. The traces are uncanny. Christianity literally reads like a mild version of Judiasm twisted in service to an empire (Rome). The "messiah" jesus is literally a fill in the blank from where the jews left off in order for Christianity to differentiate itself and hold itself above and beyond judiasm. Nothing about Christianity seems legit once you get beyond "I'm going to hell if I ever critically analyze this work of man" and think instead "When has anything man ever produced been purely from God"? "God wants me to critique this and grow beyond it".
Most christians don't know the bible. They rely on blind faith and ignorance and an ultimate prize of getting into heaven vs hell. It's spirituality for children. Are their red pills in the bible? Yeah as there are in any religion. The rest is trash.
Carson Allen
>how many athiests have actually read the bible? At least one.
>I have been reading through a lot of other ancient religions like sumerian scripture, ancient egyptian, zoroastrianism (avesta) and there are some eery specific similarities between all of them that makes me wonder whether it may actually be true... I'm about 50/50 whether or not it's true now idk.
Because its an evolution.. string of copy/pasta from the same region. Kikes copied and edited other religions that predated it and so on and so forth literally..
Literally christianity is the Torah copied with edits and a forward story.. So is islam.
Have you never seen the family tree of religion. It's an ever evolving game of telephone. Is there a God? Yeah. Does any religion get it right? No. Can you still use them as stepping stones on your Journey? Yeah. Just don't become cucked by them.
I went from Atheist to Agnostic to Agnostic that goes to church sometimes, but fuck all you guys that said Lutherans were based, I went to a Lutheran church and they had a female pastor and everyone was pushing 60-70+ years old. And I have never heard them denounce the people who call themselves Jews. I'm low-key hoping to one day be a "full" believer, but I was raised by public schools and a family that never went, so idk.

Liam Wright
>there are some eery specific similarities between all of them that makes me wonder whether it may actually be true... Wow so some ideas have traction with humans and some don't? If you read the Bible and you believe it, I have no faith in your ability to think rationally. The Bible is irrational and holymen make that case all the time. >But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. >Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." i.e. Heaven is for brainlets
Jaxon Mitchell
He gave His creation freewill. He doesn't need the confirmation, Abraham does.
You are trying to limit a limitless God within your own limitations.
Liam Jones
You dont have to actively reject the possibility of intelligent design to be an atheist, but if you can admit you don't know and therefore should not believe (the correct answer) and have an open mind to accept whatever the truth might be, you are an atheist because you lack a belief in a God. Agnosticism and atheism are not exclusive like a lot of people believe. Agnosticism is open-minded atheism.
Jonathan Anderson

I am an atheist (due to a lack of faith, not a lack of reason, study, or effort - Christianity is astoundingly logical) and it's patently obvious that 99.999% of internet and irl atheists have never read a single book of the bible.

Nolan Martin
You got it. I never advise the atheist track to anyone. It is purely ignorant and unscientific. Religions can help you establish your footing and order a journey into deeper study. If Christianity is more culturally native to you, try it out. Just keep an open mind. Eventually, if you don't cuck your spirit, other religions will gain your interest especially eastern religions. You'll see the theological overlap and the red-pills and then I feel a person progresses into neutral spirituality which combines the red-pills from all religions into a forward progressive belief in God.
Take your time and always pursue truth with an open mind. I have attached higher resolution. You can find it by searching "history of religion" and going to the image tab.
All religions are somewhat alike because humans are evolved from the same animal. They share the same Origin stories >durrrrr hurrrr it's a dude in the Sky who thinks I'm special
Daily reminder Rabbi Yeshua never preached to Gentiles, repeatedly said he came only for Jews, and put Gentiles apart from Jews. Everything you think you know about the "Jesus" (that's not even his name) is just myth cobbled together by Saul, who wasn't even a disciple of Rabbi Yeshua despite being alive at the same time as him. The original twelve preached only to Jews. Saul was also an agent of the Sanhedrin. The same Sanhedrin which declared war on Rome two years after Saul preached in Rome.
>muh Jewish psyop is DA REAL RELIJUN
Rabbi Yeshua was a moshiach claimant just like Jacob Frank and Sabbatai Zevi that was weaponized and turned on Rome, whom the Jews hated. End of story.
>you should read the bible because... That's not how it works, user. There are thousands of bullshit cults spewing utter fucking nonsense all over the shop, each with a dull, repetitive 3" thick book of "ultimate truths" to peddle. If a truth seeker wanted to find which one (if any) were actually real, it would take him far more than a lifetime to go through all of them. And going through some of them till you get to one you like isn't exactly being fair and honest with yourself, now is it? This is why the burden of proof is on the one making the claim. To prevent unscrupulous charlatans keeping doubters busy with nonsense makework. But you know all this, right? Because you're not a charlatan or a stupid person, right? So...what's your argument in favour of Christianity, please?
Parker Allen

That always made sense to me. How can eternity exist in a universe that will die? It can’t. It has to exist somewhere in which time doesn’t exist.

>any anons here that went from full blown atheist to believer? Right here brother. Spent most of my life as a vehement atheist, now pledged to use the rest of it on mission for Christ. AMA I guess.
You'll notice the timeline consistency of these graphics. Religion is both caused by, and influenced, religion. It varies by region with common stories traceable to a common ancestorship.
i used to read genesis in church. not the rest just genesis. it was the closest to greek legends in the pillars of fire, seven days etc. it was and is a strange book. revelations was ok but genesis was the one i read but the rest of it was not appealing to me.
Charles Jackson
And guess where they got this from? As you'd expect : Egyptian religions that predated them....
Huh and Hauhet — unformed space, i.e., the shapeless bubble within the deep as described in Genesis as “tohu and bohu”; Kuk and kaukut — the darkness on the face of the waters; Nun and Naunet — the primeval flood, “the Deep,” the same as the biblical deep; and Amen and Amenet — the invisible wind, the biblical “wind” that hovered over the deep. The Biblical author, wanting to promote ‘monotheism’, removed the personal gods from these images and left readers with nothing but the physical attributes with which those gods had been associated. Additionally, the biblical author removed the Egyptian god’s name from the scene and replaced it with “the wind” alone.
So an Egyptian hymn to the god Amen reads :
> The one [Amen] who came into being in the first time when not god was yet created, when you [Amen] opened your eyes to see . . . and everybody became illuminated by means of the glances of your eyes, when the day had not yet come into being. Compare Genesis 1:4-5 : And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and darkness he called Night . . . > In both the Theban and Memphite Creation myths, after Ptah appears, he commands the appearance of Atum, the Heliopolitan Creator god who first appeared in the form of a flaming serpent , the first light. (p. 14)
Copy pasta from previous work. Nothing about Abrahamic religions is original... Just an evolving edit of what came before it.
>Egyptian religions that predated them.... The bible didn't just pop into existence 2000 years ago.

I dont think you understand the purpose of Jesus. You just need to believe. Good works are like filthy rags to God. You dont need to join a church to be saved. You dont have to even stop sinning. (but youll want to by conviction from the Holy Ghost) In book of John the word believe is repeated like 90 times. Do you know how many times the phrase "repent of your sins" appears in the entire bible? Zero.
Oliver Lee
Jesus is the opposite of frank and Sevi in terms of theology, don't really get where you are coming from

If it's any consolation, it's well-known that Religiosity is healthier, because it is a required mental 'crutch' that humans evolved to depend upon. This is long-established across multiple disciplines. >b-but this proves God is real This proves humans were evolved to be religious. We were also evolved to fuck 12 and 13 year olds to reproduce as soon as possible, but then we don't do it because we have a mind that says No.
