Yes. Any form of social media is if you habe no irl life, but Jow Forums is worse than facebook when it comes to insecurities/body dysmorphia, Addiction, fake data, echo chambering and useless information overflow.

Most 4channers tend to see mainstream fluff as garbage. Things like Reddit, Facebook, lolcat shirts, and such are trash.
We also tend to have thicker skins than most normies as we don't have identities to protect and are harsher/more honest than most other sites are. This can lead to us also being more honest/harsh than most normies.
And then there's the board specific stuff like POL sounding socially backwards and racist, SOC being narcissists, TG being full of pedantic mofos, ect.
Overall it's only "bad" to a fluffy, vapid, normie. It's great for connecting to older folks from my experience. It's part of why folks here sometimes call themselves "20 year old boomers".

Jow Forums generally acts as a psychology mechanism for people who require the validation. People who gravitate towards extreme views or ideals are generally pretty desperate for identity. Humans are most comfortable in developing identity through a struggle. Everybody wants to be the hero in their own story so most people develop a "me vs. them" or "good vs. evil" mentality to facilitate this need. Everybody needs a target. Everybody needs a specific vessel upon which they can unload their collective energy and frustration on to. For some people here that target is women. For other people here the target is Jews and minorities. The dangerous thing about Jow Forums is that instilling extreme ideals into people, much like indoctrination into a cult, requires insulation the individuals from competing ones. Jow Forums is essentially a digital version of a cult compound. It isolates people from outside perspectives and simultaneously surrounds them with exclusively with people who agree with and support them. In summary, people come to Jow Forums because they need something psychologically whether it be to find people who agree with them or to scream at people who don't. Like I said, everyone wants to be the hero in their own story and people will go through an amazing amount of mental gymnastics to convince themselves that they are. This place is a giant negative feedback-loop that enables people to sink deeper into the things they want to believe.

please, despite the tough guy image the second that you poke a hole in someone's beliefs or ideals on Jow Forums they immediately descend into a shitposting fit of rage. People on Jow Forums have the thinnest skin possible. It's always someone else's fault but their own. It's the biggest culture of victimhood possible.

Some are worse than others, though I really blame the younger generation's attitudes in general on that. They're like strawberries: raised in isolation in perfect conditions, easily bruised, and will peak early before rotting. So sad.
Either way, it's way better than on sites where people have screen names and spend hours cultivating the perfect fake face. Now those meltdowns are legendary. I'd rather watch someone sperg out for a few minutes here than watch weeks of e-drama elsewhere.
Probably just me, though.

Them being young has very little to do with it, there are people in their late 20s and even 30s closing in on their 40s who still say shit like "normies" and "red pilled" and "kek". One of the most pathetic things about it is how people try to be cool with how absolutely not-reddit they are. It's literally being a hipster.

I think Jow Forums is unhealthy because of the extremely negative and pessimistic mindset that a lot of people here have. If you're easily influenced you could start hating all kinds of groups if you actually listen to the people here, because you're constantly surrounded by misinformation.
Developing a strong hatred for things you don't know a lot about is unhealthy for your mind imo.
A lot of people here consider themselves experts on women or politics but really they have no experience at all.

I would say that Jow Forums is unhealthy as it is to only surround yourself with like-minded people and not allow outside thoughts and opinions to enter your "sphere". You get enough nazi's in one room, and suddenly it's a clan gathering. You get enough feminists into one room long enough and it turns into an angry sexist cesspool of labia. You get enough incels into one thread and it turns into butthurt cancer.
It's not so much the content, it's the constant bathing in it as well as the combined mental weakness of those who are in that environment long enough to be molded by it. The fault would be the person who stays on Jow Forums too long - not really so much Jow Forums itself.

its not bad, anonymity is one of the last few remaining great things about human civilization but it's not a substitute for real human interaction and anons have to remember that

It's an absolutely toxic shithole for obvious reasons, en echo chamber of racists, pedos, incels, school shooters etc
But I keep coming back for 2 reasons:
1. People here are autistically committed to their interests, so if you're into music, sports or cooking for example, the relevant boards will provide you a lot of great relevant content (a lot of shit too though)
2. People here are brutally honest, which is why I like boards like Jow Forums where people won't sugarcoat it like you'd maybe find on reddit or something.
3. Every now and then truly hilarious shit happens, like that guy on /sp/ a few years ago who stalked an user and fell in love with him
