Gog and Magog specifically refered to pre-Georgian Iberia and Magyar soldiers. Popularly used by Romans, Mongols, and later Soviets.
It is super hard to identify who in particular this refers to now because these were nomadic people at the time. Turks? Khazaks? Hungarians?
If you are trying to identify ancient races in the Bible Josephus and Haley's Bible handbook are good sources, but even they don't always agree and I still think they are incorrect in some cases.

The battle of armageddon happens as Christ returns (towards the end of the anti-Christ’s reign.) At this point, Christians will already be in heaven because we are raptured post tribulation/pre-wrath.
