I think so. There is just so much time wasted from K-5, and I felt that the majority of the class was holding me back. i grew lazy. The caught up. The rest is history. Also, if you're educated, you can teach your children MUCH better than any school teacher. Why? Because you've been there and you know your child's weaknesses. Teachers don't have the time, and don't bother doing anything above the average due to their pay, to watch your children. Our public education systems are literally just daycare.

I didn't gain any benefits to public education since I was a quiet boy. Since I was ugly, I was rejected out of groups. Since the teacher was always talking, side conversations were taken away from me. Public education is a waste of resources. Apparently home schooled children do better too... What a shame.

Why hire 1 million teachers to repeat the same information, have students drive to school, and teach in a way that is inferior when you could just hire the top 1% of teachers, have them record well documented videos and offer reputability to students? Yes if a Catholic school with active parent involvement is not available locally. Roman Catholic schools consistently give the best moral framework and the best academic results. Schools have been infiltrated and are a hotbed of bullying due to the positive behavior models of discipline where bad behavior is not punished but good behavior rewarded. So a bully will go to school and only ever be given praise and their bullying gets worse and worse. Take your kid out if you’ve complained about bullying and nothing seems to change, take your kid out if they complain to you about bullying but you get blank looks from teachers when you talk to them about it. If your kid comes home uptight or stressed or with explosive bursts of anger but are a normal kid during the school holidays, take them out. Don’t trust the teachers, the good ones will have quit or been hounded out, if the school has gone under it will take a huge parent effort to clean out the rot.

As someone that was home-schooled I have to say yes you do avoid the degeneracy, violence and incompetence of public school.
But you have to put serious effort into socializing your kids with others their age, that could be your local church or other homeschool groups.
Otherwise the isolation can severely emotionally stunt the growth of the child, and they'll grow up not knowing how to make connections and relations as an adult

How do you monitor remote students to make sure they arent cheating though? Even if you set up a separate limited environment to do the online coursework where you cant access a web browser while "in class", there's nothing stopping a student from just googling answers on their phone. Thats why for now, online courses are only really taken by people old and responsible enough to actually try to get through the work on their own. Only way to stop any online cheating would be to be able to monitor all network traffic at the household but even then books exist and can be downloaded beforehand. Maybe using an eye tracker would work but really crudely at that...

They either have to show up to a designated area (classroom, school library, etc...) to take the test in person or they have to set up a web cam in their room at home and are monitored that way.

I think public school as a daycare and social system is okay until a child is 10-13 years old where they can take care of themselves alone at home and learn online. Universities are home to a lot of research activity in the world but I think its an archaic system. There is no need to physically attend a history, finance, economics lesson. Although certain studies do require physical attendance, such as forensic science, archeology, medical school, etc.
as someone who went to public school, the 'socially stunted' argument is retarded 2bh. Most kids ive seen in the system come out socially stunted in the end. Only about 30% are social butterflies.
Not all homeschoolers are perfect. Some shut in their kids and focus on study, others sacrifice some study for outwardly socialization. And some kids are simply more sociable despite the nurturing.
It's all the same really, but with homeschooling you get the added benefit of assurance that some feminist whale isn't going to brainwash your child with propaganda.

Almost all of my archaeology classes were like traditional classes. You might be thinking of an archaeological field school.
The real benefit of physical classes is how quick the discussions are. Getting 15 history professionals in a room for 3 hours leads to a lot of constructive discussion. You would need VR to replicate the flow and space of conversation

Has anybody ever met somebody that was homeschooled?? Maybe I just know people with shitty parents but I feel like a big part of school isn't the actual learning material, it's how you interact with your peers and authority figures and even if your parents teach you more bullshit than a teacher would at home there's something about public school that can't be replicated.

As someone who was homeschooled for the entirety of their life, I would say that I would not homeschool my kids. I did make a ton of friends, and I did excel in certain things. However, I still feel it wrong to deny a kid something that someone else has gone through. It's essentially saying "you don't get to grow up like the other kids"

The children being exposed to a lot of social interaction at school environments are beneficial too. The things taught at schools may be absolute shit , but the social environment is important for a developing human, even if the social interactions aren't always positive.
