This, just because the active ingredient is the same doesn't mean they'll have the same effect. Formulation matters greatly. It's like how KCl is used as IV push for lethal injections, but there are also KCl tablets that people take as a dietary supplement for electrolyte imbalances. There is literally no reason to choose this as the preferred killing method on a grand scale.

The five and half million figure is largely from a combination of census data - which shows that sort of fall in numbers, and shows they didn’t go anywhere else, and careful reconstruction of transport orders and other records to show how millions were sent to the camps but didn’t come back. Also the reports from the Einsatzgruppen who shot over a million, and other reports about the numbers given “special treatment”

In all historical questions there will be differences of opinion, but I am not aware of any person who has given a plausible case for the number being much lower than five million.

If you knew anything about the respiration rates of insects then it might make more sense. It is called “biology” which is part of “science”. I recommend these subjects for you to study.

Also, if you knew anything of thr way the camps worked, the Nazis wanted to recoup the clothes, and valuables, of the people they killed. It was easier to do that by telling them they were going for a shower, so they stripped calmly, left their valuables, and walked to their doom with no rebellion.

Then they took all the stuff to a storage yard they called “Canada” and had slaves pick through it to find valuables, money, and reusable items and sort out recycling and rubbish.

The camps made a fortune from this. It paid for the system

You are incorrect about what Zyklon B was designed for and how it was used. It was made as an easy and safe way to transport hydrogen cyanide liquid. Drop a small bottle of that and you are in trouble. Have it in pellet for ina tin ad it is easier to handle, to dose, and to transport safely.

It was primarily for fumigating rooms - sprinkle the pellets and walk away quickly. Ina few minutes it is sufficient to kill people, but you leave it a few hours to kill bugs.

The delousing of clothes is much improved if you have hot air blowing through them to make the gas penetrate better, and they had machines to do that, so the pellets were never in contact with the clothes.

You should read up more on how it was used, and what it was. It isn’t a different formulation - it is the same liquid chemical. And it has a high vapour pressure so it evaporates at down to minus five Celsius.

And who cares if they thrash around? Nice thick steel door, or one of doublelayers of oak with felt in the middle to make it gas ticket. Make sure the inspection port is thick glass, with a metal grille over it on the inside to stop them breaking it. No problem.

The death toll at Auschwitz was not reduced. The Soviet propaganda plaque which claimed the Germans had killed millions of Soviet POWs at Auschwitz was replaced by an historically more accurate one that gave the number deduced from the documents and actual evidence by western historians in the 1950s.

And yes the Soviets had huge figures in other camps. If you add them up you get over twenty million total. Obviously propaganda rubbish.
