If you think your employer is going to give you a "2 week notice" before firing your ass, you're fucking delusional.I personally give 2 week notices if the job i'm leaving has treated my well (or at least fairly), and theyre a small enough company that an instant departure would really impact them. Otherwise, fuck 'em. I'm pretty sure I've never had an employer actually call any of my past employers before hiring me, anyways. It's always just been me interviewing, and them saying "great, you can start tomorrow. Fill out this application and a few other forms tonight, and we'll see you then."

I ghosted my last job because they lied about pay, benefits, opportunity, perks, and were total cunts.

When I was younger and just working part time while studying, I'd literally quit a job that day if I was offered something that paid even a few pennies more an hour. These days I always keep other options in the works in case I get laid off or they change my pension / benefit package.

I'm 28, I've had 15+ jobs, retail, warehouse, construction, catering, security, environmental, factory. Zero exceptions. Absolutely none

I didn't quite "ghost" my last job. But after watching my boomer boss berate my coworkers...who were smarter than him...one weekend I finally send my boss an "effective immediately" resignation email. I went back that Tuesday to pick up my last check and do one last thing. He paid me one whole day for basically an hour of work.

I work a job for shit pay, but these past 6 months of hard work have paid off as I'm getting interviewed for a lead position, and I'd be making quite a few pennies more than I'm making now. Even if I don't get the position, at least my dedication to my job has been noticed by management. So, I'm pretty happy either way.

Nobody does regular work hours in Australia anymore unless they're on the upper end of upper middle class. Most people work weekends and either early mornings or late nights, I'm currently on my first 2 day weekend, on a fucking wednesday, since early February.

Employers realized that giving people consistent hours lets them get a second job, which makes them more likely to quit when they fuck with their employees, so now nobody gets consistent hours unless they're in the Mines, and in the mines you're working 90+ hours a week.
