The Chinese history split into roughly 300 year long periods, each ruled by one specific dynasty.

They got conquered by the Mongols, then repelled them, and then a bit one dynasty later were conquered by another nomadic tribe, the Manchu. That's when Westerners discovered them.

Germans, French, Slavs, Hunarians, Nords, Romans themselves.
