A few things. Firstly it's not an "image" in the traditional sense, it's in a normally non-visible spectrum of the electromagnetic wavelength, radio frequency, I think. Secondly, it is an object that was obscured by a dust cloud. So it's "seeing" non visible wavelengths through dust, and then making it visible. Then it's "stitching" together the work of like a dozen telescopes operating in unison. It's an impressive feat, I'll grant them that. Even if the image is a bit underwhelming to most laymen.
