If you recall, when Republicans were conjuring up, the tax bill which is current law...you may remember Bannon/Trump tried to hike up the tax rate on the ultra wealthy...and it was our lefty DEMOCRATS who balked at that notion, the loudest.

The government doesn't need more money to waste on gibs. That is first and foremost. Who that money would come from isn't even relevant.
But it is worth pointing out that most of the actual tax dollars we collect already come from the rich - and disproportionately so. And we know from experience that if we push them too hard they will move their money overseas and then we get nothing.
We need to change our laws so that rich people in other countries want to hide their money in the US.
