There, fixed it for you. Same goes for 'Minorities' in STEM. It has nothing to do w/ helping minorities/women and everything to do w/ a corporation's bottom dollar. Oversupply market with people and undermine wage growth. They could give a shit less about women or minorities. The hilarious thing, if you look beyond PR bullshit which is set to target consumers of their products (we want the female/minority bucks), they actually don't have many women/minorities. Frankly, even is she was just a coder (and, frankly, coding is the plumbing of the 20th century; dumb menial labor) I’d hire a woman over a man any day. Almost every young guy I’ve worked on projects are simply cancer; can’t work with a team, thinks their code is better than anyone else, can’t take criticism. Even better: hire a female manager and they give any shit, you can fire them for harassment. Getting more women into STEM, and promoting them, isn’t good politics it is simply good business.
