That's a great question.

I'm only building a hard wired DC voltage demonstrator that will lift off. It might be 10 pounds of mass. It will go about 10' and that's it. If it tries to go higher, it will pull the power cord for safety. A human capable machine might need a lead shield for the x-rays.

I might contact some automotive people and see if they want to build a machine or maybe the personal craft people, like Bombardier.

I don't think so, It's more about having a magnetic field. Constant power would burn up the coil. Pulsing cools it down.

In the plate capacitors, I think once they are charged. It might hold. Let's say you have 1/2 copper plate with 1/2 glass insulators. If you put a high voltage on it, it will be a capacitor with a magnetic field. A very strong one I suspect. The plate capacitor is from the Alien reproduction vehicle, it's about steering it 'ARV' with one of the 30 sections of a stack of plate capacitors. The beauty is that you can capture that electricity back as flyback voltage for reuse I suspect.
