There is no single thing, but many factors. On of them which is that duelling has been outlawed. Many communities and jurisdictions would have a "Blood island/Bloody Island" which is a throw back to the "Holmgang" or Islamd Walks where citizens would defend their honour or challenge others regarding their own honour. The process would involve judges, doctors, assistants and seconds who would sometimes but seldomly fight in the place of one of the participants. Duels could settle disputes once and for all. There is the cultural meme of "every European alive today is descended from Charlemagne, we wuz kings" and while realistically it is probably not the case, it seems likely that Charlemagne has more descendants than the average person of hisi time period he lived due to polygamy. Lots of Irish and Scottish people are descended from Niall Noigaillach or Brian Boru. Many north a,erican shave royal blood, even some African Americans are descended from European royalty as a result of slave masters impregnating their slaves. There are also many people of noble ancestry in Latin America.
