Here's your Notre Dame, bro. we fixed it!
Here's your Notre Dame, bro. we fixed it!
LOL
...
Christ that is fucking disgusting. you can tell what part is going to stand the test of time.
THOSE GOD DAMN FUCKING JEWS ARE ASKING FOR ANOTHER SHOAH
i literally dont have a purpose in life
>tfw something like this is probably going to happen
I'm pretty sure they add a mosque on top the Notre-Dam or some other degeneracy
Remember when they let that chink put a shopping mall pyramid right in front of the Louvre so you can't see it anymore?
Fuck it, I hope they build it in the style on the right and I hope it’s an “interfaith center” instead of a cathedral. Fucking burn it all down, expose the clown world for what it is, I’m sick of pretending there’s anything left to fight for
this but unironically
>saw OP open when i was 13 on school trip
>even then I thought it was odd in contrast to some of the buildings around it that looked very aesthetic
>its not even the worst building in Toronto
>Pic related is the Ontario school of "arts" and "design"
Just fuck my shit up senpai
Better quality
>nothing personal goy just making room for the new progressive architecture!
It literally looks like a migraine.
What the fuck. I recently discovered due to lack of knowing how to use the local buses that there's a derelict patch of old busted housing that apparently the art student bums have taken over. A lot of really cool art all over their houses and yards.
That's modernist architecture, not whatever Derridian ninsense OP posted.
*nonsense
What's so offensive about it is that it blocks the view and makes it impossible to see something people might want to see. And the thing blocking the view isn't even good. It's a shopping mall decoration. That's postmodernist irony, blocking the view of something unique with something chintz. Why not put a glass pyramid in front of all great works of art so no one can see them anymore? No one would complain. They would just talk about how great the pyramid is and how it adds to the work behind it by putting it in context of modernity or some bullshit like that.
Ontario is a cesspit and should be glassed.
416 is lame and sucks shit.
I disagree, I think it complements the Luxor obelisk quite nicely. That's the good thing about most modernist architecture (art deco, etc.), it usually blends well with older architecture styles, especially neoclassical architecture.
I see those before I get a migraine. It's a good indication to take my medicine so I'm not crippled for hours.
It blocks the view of the Louvre. That is, it subtracts from something that was already there. I don't think we can say the pyramid complements something when it makes it unseeable.
>oy vey goy look how progressive we are
*rubs concrete blocks vigorously*
Here's how it looks now. There used to be only one place you could see the Louvre: the Louvre. But now you can't even see it there because someone blocked the view.
I have to side with that analysis. You know a design is good when you can't add or subtract anything without making it worse. The luxor kind of blends in, but it doesn't add.
>rubs hands as he counts his shekels
I love (((modern architecture)))
You simply can't see the entrance to the Louvre anymore. If you want to see it, you would have to go back to an old photograph. It's as if a great piece of architecture was destroyed. It's like a joke the artist played on everyone, which is what all this deconstructivist art is. It's just laughing at people.
Kek, I laughed when Macron said that. Yeah sure France, go ahead and try to rebuild it with mudhut "engineers" and Chinese steel.
This view is no longer available on earth. You have to go to old books to see it.
Looks familiar.
I spent the day at the local art museum the other year. They have their pieces laid out in chronological order. By the time you go past impressionism or so, it starts to become evident that they'd gone off the deep end trying to make jokes of themselves just to be more edgy than everyone else. Some clever bits here and there if you get the joke, but it really just winds up making you want to go back down to look at the the other stuff.
The pyramid is both transparent and situated symmetrically. It draws additional focus to the centerline of the square.
Tragicomedy is a thing y'know?
It blocks the view of the Louvre, which was the artist's point. It's some kind of reverse imperialism.
hitting 'randomise' on the building instead of doing your job.
Do you regularly have them? Like cluster headaches?
I've heard LSD aborts them.
I'm pretty sure that I.M. Pei intended for it to do the exact opposite.
The one built out of indestructable aircraft-grade aluminum?
I hope they make a mosque out of it
just to spite the frogs
you're the next failed state
disgusting.
Arks strategically located for when the flood comes.
LSD takes most of an hour to really start kicking in unless you take enough to make you completely retarded for the rest of today and into tomorrow. I would look elsewhere for a solution, even if it's just something less debilitating like LSA.
Then obviously, looking at the picture, he failed.
You think this is bad?
Look at this garbage. Always seen, from everywhere. Polluting the sky and the horizon. Mocking you. Sparkling at night, because you're not allowed peace in this life.
That's the way it comes across, by blocking the view of an important part of European architecture so no one can see it anymore. Europeans destroyed lots of other cultures so that they are permanently gone. Now the entrance to the Louvre is permanently gone.
The architecture in OP at least doesn't take away from anything. It's just bad. It doesn't remove anything good. If you don't like it, don't look at it. But if you want to see the entrance to the Louvre, you can't do that by just not looking at the pyramid. There is nothing you can do to see the entrance to the Louvre square on anymore. That has been made impossible by a piece of art that you can see in malls all over the world.
Oh boi, I love me some modern architecture hate threads
That's exactly how that pyramid should have been done. Put it out by itself so it doesn't block anything. Don't put it right in front of something else so you can't see it.
Something like that might be appropriate for an actual IRL clownworld like Las Vegas. I think we need designated clownworld areas. Clownworld can be fun, too. It doesn't have to shit up nice places.
>a fucking blob
It's made of glass you mong. You can see right through it.
DELETE THIS
yeah a jew is behind that go figure, people we're outraged and still are, Im gonna set it on fire before I die
Want to go see the Eiffel Tower? Fine, go see it. Want to go see the pyramid? Go see it. Want to go see this, that, and the other thing? Go see it. Want to see the entrance to the Louvre from the front? Too bad. It's gone. The only place you can see it is to go to the library and look in book pre-1984. It's like it got wiped out in a war and was never rebuilt.
Looks like a tumor growing
literal cancer
It must be the worst thing to walk around in that place
That must have sent the people living next door with their autistic orderlyness on grand display to the insane asylum.
it looks like we've been invaded by parasitic, homosexual aliens
LOL
>indestructable aircraft-grade aluminum?
hahahahahahahahahahahaha
The glass is tinted blue. And there are beams all through it. It's like painting a moustache on the Mona Lisa. Hey, you can still see most of it. That pyramid is nothing but terrorist defacement of a great work of art by some Chong Dong whose most famous work is that: a dime-a-dozen shopping mall glass pyramid that blocks the view of the one and only Louvre.
I used to work in one of these crazy newfangled buildings. They literally had to poll us about what kind of signs they should put up so people could find their way around. I can't tell you how many times I had to literally lead somebody around to find the bathroom or the elevator or just say I had absolutely no idea how to find that room number. I used to take friends and family there to show them where I worked just for fun and they'd always tell me they had no idea which way they were going or how to get back to anywhere.
I could go on, but for the moment I don't want to.
I'll give the thread some time
graphics card is breaking again
I remember seeing the Royal Ontario Museum when I was a kid, I cried when that went up, it was a Ching Chong who funded it. Feels like a shit test we failed.
>deconstructivism
OY VEY
Hey, I just had a stroke of creative genius! Why not put a completely unoriginal, unimaginative glass pyramid right smack in front of that thing so no one can see it anymore!
To be fair the pyramid is currently more popular than the building.
This kinda reminds me of the monkey Jesus painting restoration.
>american can't see through glass
I know you all have the diabeetus pretty bad but this is just comical. I'm glad I live in a place that has healthcare and food regulations.
It's also telling you keep referring to shopping malls - the absolute height of architecture in the USA. Temples to megacorporations. Your country is a Blade Runner-esque hellscape, only without the flying cars and the robo-prostitutes. I'm frankly embarrassed you have the cheek to criticise anything about anywhere else in the world.
I'm not surprised at that at all. Modern art is for modern people, who are garbage.
it looks like a trash heap
I get a few a month. If I don't take medicine in time and the migraine hits I get nauseous and can't stand any light. I usually have to lock myself in a dark room for a few hours. Pic related is the closest thing that looks like what I actually see when I'm getting a migraine. I've never tried LSD, I just take OTC medicine.
I call this the cheese grater
That's because there's an Apple store in it.
That glass is is not transparent. It's foggy, and there are dozens of beams crisscrossing it. It's analogous to making people wear dirty goggles when they visit an art museum so that they can kind of see the art, but it's all foggy and smudged with flecks of garbage all in their view.
mushrooms will cure it, if not cured it will hold the migraines off for months from one use
Christianity is dead. Why build it back? It celebrated an era of ignorant, backwards superstition. Why not build it back as a monument to the new.era of enlightened science? Christianity is dead. Bury it an move towards rational thought. If we dedicated resources now we could actually live forever by putting peoples consciousness into computers and eventually clones, meaning we woildnt have to trust in some god for eternal life
I refuse to believe those people think those new structures are "beautiful".
This entire thread is an architectural lesson in "just because you can, doesn't mean you should".
Engineering advances which made it possible to build absolutely anything utterly destroyed architecture. It was defined by its limitations.
>peace was never an option
Just slap some primitive shapes in Blender together.
modern architecture looks so souless.
This is like one of those fortnite dances but as a building.
Expand yo mind..
is this actually real?
