Honestly its because with enough money you can do anything in the city. Yeah sure if your in the south or Texas or Colorado. Yeah its cheaper living, but you now have to driver everywhere and you're stuck with a smaller population of people and nothing to really do. Me personally I would love to drive in a place with less traffic, but then you have those small town cops that pull you over for going 5 over.

I live just outside Syracuse - the SPD is understaffed and overwhelmed. Syracuse is one of the biggest shitholes not named Detroit in this nation. Meanwhile, in the suburbs, fathers and sons play catch, lawns are mowed, houses are regularly maintained, and the streets are free of trash.

nyc is the best place in this country, being able to live without a car is absolutely based
access to world-class architecture and art is pretty nice too

I’ve never been a tourist here, but I guess it would help to

-avoid travel during rush hours on weekdays
-stay outside of manhattan and commute in for day trips. There’s loads of cool stuff to do outside of manhattan or the city in general
-don’t bother with tourist traps like Statue of Liberty or Times Square. They’re cool to see in person once, but the coolest parts of New York aren’t those spots
