What is any religion but an ethnoreligion? I really don't get this. In the long run every religion will put certain beliefs and behaviors on the people and then they will be reinforced mentally. Then the people with the genetic markers that affect those behaviors will fare better in the society and thus procreate more and eventually the person will be representative of the religion.

Now, personally, I have never really involved myself with theological research too much; I just always reserved a certain fondness for our local Lutherans on account of them being the heart of the community around my town. But I think there is not much point in having this kind of discussion without some sort of backing in scripture, and retain doubt that the current Vaticanic leadership (or even organised Protestant one for that matter) is all that true to what the faith's supposed to actually teach.
