I’m 19 and one thing I’ve noticed growing up is that adults really are just big teenagers, at least these days.
I think we’re all just dumb little children distracting ourselves from death and nihilism. I’d like to think life was seen and experienced differently ages ago, I’d like to think something like Nazi germany’s collectivism through racial nationalism/socialism have them a sense of community that the modern west simply hasn’t experienced, maybe all this despair in the air is just us neglecting a sense of bond with those like us genetically and culturally. But, I used to think adults had the world figured out and that things would start to make sense and feel worth it, and since I was wrong about that, maybe me going even further into the past isn’t going to help either. Maybe we really are just dumb monkeys waiting to die while distracting ourselves with food, tv, music, pop culture in general.
I’m honestly probably going to kill myself in the next few years if this doesn’t start to seem worth it, rant over.

Gen X got to live a pretty good life in the 80s and 90s growing up. (Maybe the 70s as well, I didn't really live it) You could be young and fuck up and it wouldn't get caught on somebody's phone so they could ruin you.
The music and culture were better overall. People weren't nearly as judgmental as the social media age has ushered in.

Getting older generally is a pain in the arse. Practically everything previous generations tell you is definitely TRUE. The days really do fly by. Your body really does feel it whilst your mind isn't that different from who you really are. Your childhood looks increasingly comfy compared to the black void that's in front of you.

Every generation blames the generation that precedes it. It's like in art history, there's always an element of the new movement reacting against where it think it's wrong. However, you can blanket blame whole generations but that doesn't really make sense.
