This is not to mention land based ASW assets like anti ship batteries, missile silos, and fixed air stations dotted on the many land points throughout such as Guam, Korea, Hawaii, Aleutians, etc. Lets imagine a chinese and russian coalition force makes it across with enough supplies and resources to sustain a land invasion. Not only do they have to contend with millions of gun crazy rednecks playing Red Dawn, they immediately encounter one of the most significant natural barriers in the world: the Rocky Mountains. Unless totally paralyzed from nuclear strikes, invading the mainland US is an easy way to lose millions or billions of lives and at least as much in collateral damage.
