Japan’s crashed F-35 had navigation & cooling faults, whole fleet forced into 7 emergency landings. Japan’s fleet of highly sophisticated F-35A jets has been plagued by problems in the last two years, resulting in at least seven emergency landings – including two by the unit that crashed in the Pacific Ocean earlier this month. Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) had a fleet of thirteen F-35As, before one of the fifth-generation stealth fighters disappeared off radars and crashed off northern Japan on April 9. But the ill-fated jet had issues with its cooling and navigation systems even prior to the crash, Japan’s Ministry of Defense revealed this week.
Is anyone surprised? NOT a Vatnic but this fuckin thing was built by several conflicting committees of different countries staffed by people who largely have no practical experience of aviation to create a list of "must have" features many of which will be blatantly opposing one another and then passing it off to a psuedo-state run company with an absolutely blank check and told to take as long as they want. Never mind if its obsolete by the time its in circulation. The thing is a disaster and should have been shit canned in early trials rather than being sold to NATO counties like a pre-release game title on steam. They literally shipped a BETA prototype of the plane as a finished product. All the little guys in NATO will get shafted with a soft bricked plane in a hanger somewhere which needs bulk DLC in the form of after the fact recalls and patches to fundamental design flaws created by non engineers asking for them because they saw something on Facebook about it once and it sounded cool to them. America will get the juice in terms of having the best software, newest hardware and least fucked up production models while pushing the development costs onto other member counties. Somehow we are supposed to be stoked on this? Its the aviation equivalent of the DALE 3 wheeled car.

Supposedly they are building a version of the f-23 we didn't adopt. Or they want too
The one good thing Justin did was cancel this for the RCAF. That fucker Mackay and Harper had us buy these things while no doubt getting all kinds of kickbacks and.

>b-but only 3rd world pilots crash american airplanes FUCK BOEING AND FUCK AMERICA PEOPLE
Its 1 vehicle. why fault an entire country over 1 little plane that needs a bit more debugging? The only thing about this is a man died. You hate the US that much? Then leave if you're here and go somewhere else. US has abandoned most of the world. We keep our select nation states very well armed. The rest of the shitholes are upto China/Russia. This US world police shit is over. fuck the world
>This US world police shit is over. fuck the world
The world will benefit greatly when you, the lapdog of Israel, will fuck off to your island and stay there.

Opinion disregarded, sage

Problem with that is we spend that on our allies too unlike China/Russia who are stuck in a mental game of board game Risk. Scariest thing about that for those EU future bloc states? An F-35 and a Nuke in every backyard.
pic related Germany did win WW2 just took 70 more years for them to realize it actually sucks.
Are you all raised in the delusion that Americans "keep the peace"? You cause more war and instability than any other country.

Japan can not export arms because of its policy. So developing in Japan is expensive.
By comparison, imports from the US are cheaper.

>tfw we can't sell the japs the F-22
why are they even looking at the F-35
Easton Nelson
Whatever, I took the first search result. We all know USA is NR1 and they don't discriminate much
Connor Miller
Keep quiet fincuck.

jesus christ that's a lot of ELINT planes
would hate to be opfor computer and go up against that

Several similar scenarios have played out shortly after takeoff in Japan. I suspect something larger at play that intelligence won't allow leaking out into the public. Chinese are likely operating sophisticated electronic countermeasures or high energy lasers. Taking occasional shots at Japanese forces to project influence/intimidation in tandem with asserting its territory/island building in the South China Sea. This has happened several times within the past 3 years. F35 pilot gave no distress call and the pilot is dead/missing and the plane in pieces. If this like other related incidents is indeed the fault of the Chinese we won't ever hear about it.
