Making no personal attempt at improving society, and instead just whining about it, is hypocritical and leaves you complacent in society's flaws.
Buying an iPhone despite Apple's business practices encourages Apple to continue their business practices.
Buying a car without seatbelts encourages car manufacturers to leave seatbelts out.
Being a peasant that does nothing but labor for his overlords does nothing to dissuade the overlords from abusing him.

Complaining about bad things is fine if it gets you and others to actually do something about it. However, pointless whining is annoying and actually hurts your goals because everyone learns to ignore the complaints.

They're comparing a specific product (iphones) to more general things like ALL cars or society itself. Guy in the 2nd panel is right, buy a phone from another company. The iphone isn't the only one that exists, which your friend nor the comic creator doesn't seem to understand

How about instead of making statements about how shit something is, you instead come up with ways to make it better. Since the US requires companies to comply with environment, safety and fair wage/benefit standards and unions or be fined out the ass for non compliance and 3rd world shit holes have none of the above and pay pennies for the same labor US citizens would be paid $20-30 hr to do, the only way for the US to compete in the free market and keep industry is to tariff and tax the hell out of all imports from 3rd world shitholes to make it not profitable for companies to move out of the US and ship their products in to the US. You dont need an apple phone. There are plenty of alternatives which are not only easy to acquire but actually cheaper and at least as good of a product. You do need to participate in society to live and no alternative vehicles existed with seatbelts.

And also the free market could easily provide seatbelts, kinda hard for your customer to buy a new car when they died in your old one now isn't it
