Kidnapping, unlawful detainment, unlawful arrest, impersonating a federal agent, aggravated assault, brandishing and some want terroristic threats on top of it all. These are incredibly serious. Lifetime serious.
Citizens arrest is a thing but their argument is over whether or not it was legal in this instance because of New Mexico's laws on it. Apparently that state only finds it permissible in the event of committing felonies. Now you could argue they had reasonable suspicion of felony activity because a lot of border jumpers get deported on their first attempt and the second attempt is a felony.
No matter how this plays out they've sent a very clear message that if you want to protect our borders it's better to dig a mass grave than it is to peacefully stop illegals.
