U.S. 20-year-old college student says Uber driver left her on side of the road when he found out she was getting an abortion

It's that he knew that destination was Planned Parenthood, took the job anyways, knew she was aborting, started driving her anyways, and then left her in the middle of nowhere. I can understand being put in a situation where there's massive social pressure to comply and you don't want to consider yourself an accomplice to murder, it can produce some erratic behavior, but as for professionalism this was terrible conduct.

You don't get to just take a fare drive them to the middle of nowhere tell them you will take them back if they want but you won't take them to thier destination. He does not have the right to pretend to give her service and use that as a pretext to waste her time to try to convert her. That he offered to take her back is a good thing but he is still in the wrong overall. If it was my cab company I would fire him for trying to impose his morality on my customers. Since he is an independent contractor it is different and some Uber has other drivers he could have just refused the fare and let someone else take her. I can't let people do this sort of thing to customers though it is horrible for business. Uber is publicly traded iirc so they are legally blind to act in the interest of the shareholders.
