> For six hours, the BrainEx system, as the researchers call it, mimicked a beating heart. It flooded vessels in the pigs’ brains with a blood-like fluid. The flow restored some blood vessel function and restarted a series of chemical reactions in certain brain cells which are crucial for living organisms to remain alive; some cells even responded to drugs. Tissue samples revealed electrical activity in some neurons—something that would have vanished after death.
I can't stop thinking of how practical and nefarious it all can be at the same time.
Like it would be nice to live forever.
But it would also be nice to shoot a zombie in the face.
Xavier Clark
I can't wait to see how the Jewish lawyers in charge of organ donations use this to skew the definition of organ/brain death for their own ends.
>oh no no you see goyim we can use this amazing technology to preserve the organs of your loved one so people can be saved! >but can't you use that exact same technology to revive them even a few hours after death, thus bringing them back to life? >SHUSH GOYIM
James Sanchez
Think of how weird it would be to be conscious but without a body.
Dylan Cox
Hopefully this will allow billionaires like George Soros to live forever. And when the treatment gets a little cheaper, the average boomer can live forever too.
Samuel Moore
>changing our view of death not mine
Alexander Cook
RoboSoros would be magnitudes worse than George Soros could ever be.
ROBOCOP IS REAL!
David Russell
What's your view on death?
Carter Rogers
Find Hitlers body. Bring his brain back to life. ???profit???
Jason Brooks
We're already working on that remember? What time British Summer Time are we doing it again?
Landon Jackson
I think a million hitler wannabes is more effective than 1 genuine hitler. Time's have changed.
Cameron Young
Finally. It may happen guys. Where we meet? Idaho? Lemme know on channel z, my call sign is gooseraper. See you all in hell.
Justin Moore
Isn’t it 8pm in Germany?
Luke Richardson
quick someone find hitler's brain asap
Eli Diaz
>Neuroscientists just brought pig brain cells back to life, changing our view of death why even do that?
Benjamin Barnes
Who cares, nothing will happen, nothing ever happens.
Hunter Reyes
Brining people back from death? Using this procedure can be used to bring back limbs that have been cut off or damaged in some way. You people are fucking tards and the reason we are going to lose to China. It says that the brain is functioning or at least was functioning so explain to me how this would be zombie shit?
Justin Evans
we're already dead and in a simulation. everything is an illusion.
Aaron Perry
I would be much more glad if someone proved that afterlife exists, like that Sam Parnia guy tried to do (but obviously failed). What's the fucking point of living forever in the clown world?
Could this new technique of bring back brains be used to do this? Like someone kills them self in a controlled way and is brought back to life? A way to peak at the other side?
Carter Clark
Afterlife doesn't exist. "You" are your organic brain and "you'" will vanish once it goes full no signal mode.
It could be weaponized if you only resuscitated the parts of the brain that are fight or flight functions of the brain except without the flight.
Connor Cook
it's only a clown world if your world is limited to a circus.
Luis Hernandez
They might get operator status in the simulation, man. Could be the plot of a shitty movie.
Caleb Bell
Energy is not created or destroyed. Only transformed.
Juan Myers
I literally heard about some russian that did this in the 1930 or 40s, he took someone that just died and started pumping new blood in him, after a while the dead guy started blinking and shit and the terrified scientist terminated the experiment
probably just a myth desune
Jeremiah Gutierrez
Consciousness is easily destroyed. Bacteria exists but it's not aware of its own existence and the world around it.
Lucas Jenkins
can it bring the dead cells at the head of my circumcised dick back to life?
Levi Howard
There's a afterlife. Be a good fellow in this one
Charles Parker
meaningless schizo-tier statement from you it doesn't mean anything practical or have any relevance to it, but it sounds emotionally nice so you post dumb quotes like these to feel like you said something important when all you did was the equivalent of a fart
Jordan Robinson
So this can fix stroke?
Isaac Edwards
Because you don't need to make kids when you can live forever, thus avoiding the incest problems typically associated with every jew in the world. No joke. All Jews are too closely related for healthy offspring.
Jose Cooper
We got foregen for that.
Jack Cook
they're going to create literal soulless NPCs I can't wait to go on a morally justified killing spree
Jacob Reyes
Yep. But it can also be used to prolong an ongoing torture even after your heads been chopped off.
Aiden Clark
No. You can't come back from the dead, nothing can. It even says in the article, faggots. >oh look, we have machines to pump the heart and breathe the lungs again >but he's not alive >it's ok, we'll just say he is
Adam Turner
Imagine a future where everyone is forced to stay alive forever, and people start to voluntarily kill themselves. The catch is even if you die, they will locate your body and revive you. That would make a killer movie.
Ryder Cook
wow
Owen Butler
So Taxes is the final boss.
Evan Campbell
this is how narcissistic modern people are. You're not "you" you are base consciousness plus a thin layer of the things specific to you.
Gavin Cruz
If consciousness is purely biologically I don't see how this could be impossible.
Lincoln Davis
terrifying
Adam Butler
It's not. We can't pin point where in the brain/body it resides, no idea how it works. Once the body gives up the ghost, you can pump all the fresh blood and oxygen into the body, but that spark is gone and will not come back.
Ryan Smith
That spark comes from the pineal gland. All it would take is a jolt of DMT after resuscitation.
Yeah yeah we've all read the epic pasta from the vivid dream post
Aiden Stewart
i thought that was impossible with complex life. i don't have a joke or some banter to make, this is just fucking amazing. this could just be immortality
Its not to. If the hardware fails the software will be gone and then after that you cab pump all the fluids you want, you wont get anything except a meatbag with a wiped OS
Hunter Sullivan
An afterlife seems much better than being old for sure
There's got to be a way to install new software. The brain is malleable and only requires the right chemistry in the right areas.
Connor Bailey
Yeah you could probably make a zombie
Jordan Thomas
browsing the internet is pretty close
Hudson James
This won’t help dying from old age. When you die of “old age” you’re actually dying of organ failure because your cells’ DNA is so deteriorated the replacement cells cannot function. This could only help people who have died prematurely. Even taking into account organ transplants, there’s still a hard limit on your brain cells and their ability to replicate themselves.
Lincoln Martin
What does "rulwodanas" mean?
Carson White
There’s no “spark”, the brain just dies extremely quickly without oxygen and energy. You can “die”, meaning having no breath and heartbeat, for 3-5 minutes and return to life without consequences. Longer than this you’ll be a potato at best. That’s the main problem I see with this technology - the brain cells get destroyed too quickly
Adam Stewart
consciousness is not your mind and not your body it is not the observed bur rather the observer.
You're just maintaining parts of the machine. It's like reusing the components of your computer after the hard drive burns up, and the program is gone.
At the basis of reality is nothing but information. It forms the universe, and creates the simulation, or "dream" if you'd rather, which your soul is living in. Your soul is not the result of your masses of neurons, any more than the programs you run in a computer is the result of the components of the computer.
You, like a program, are not made of what we call "matter." You are just like the lines of code in a program and, ultimately, you are not even those lines of code, you are just a dream in the mind of the guy that wrote it.
Kayden Ward
>Like it would be nice to live forever. You wouldn't live forever even if this worked though. Individual cells aren't eternal. Brain cells would decay and break down. At best you could revive yourself and extend your life span as a godless, undead abomination for a while.
Benjamin Bailey
close but you are confusing the different levels of "you" There is the you that is the ego, the conditioned self, and that is bound to the body. But there is also the you that the Hindu refer to a Atman which is equivalent with Brahman, the universal self. Just like when you dream your mind generates multiple characters in the dream, all of them you, so too "you" are both the dreamer and one of these characters.
Aiden Ross
>it would be nice to live forever. Would it? Think about it. You'd be alive long enough to see the sun go super-nova, and swallow the Earth. Then you would be alive within the red-giant our sun becomes, burning for eons. Then it would collapse into a white dwarf star, and you would still be there, burning. Then it would solidify into a chunk of matter, and you would be stuck in it either forever, or until something just as big hit it. Then you would be shot into space, still unable to breathe, endlessly hurtling. Finally, you would be caught in a gravity well, probably another star...but even if it were a planet, it would probably be a dead planet. But it it were, against all odds, an Earth-like planet, after the pain of burning on re-entry, you would hit the ground and then coalesce back into yourself... ...and you would be hopelessly insane, knowing only that you were destined to go through it all over again...
I don't disagree, and came to this conclusion long ago. We're all chunks of our creator's dream, and when we die, it is very possible we'll simply wake up as god.
I hope he's not an asshole.
Easton Ward
>programs you run in a computer is the result of the components of the computer They literally are Write down your program on a piece of paper without ever having access to hardware and it won't ever run
Jacob Roberts
>I hope I am not an asshole Fixed that for you You should study Vedanta and Hinduism. Try the Bhagavad Gita for a start youtube.com/watch?v=okdg3ENnvCk
Ideally by then we would be on other planets. And if you could survive inside the red giant sun then you could get shot up into space and just drift till you hit something interesting. Living until the heat death of the universe would be fun. Could play so much d&d.
Combine this with Toxoplasma then every mammal can join this Zombie apocalypse.
Landon Lewis
He's right though. Information is never lost. Thought is energy. The soul is real and eternal. Discard the heaven and hell bullshit and what you have left is gnosis.
>something that would have vanished after death This whole thing seems rooted in assumptions. Getting cell functions to begin again only requires that the necessary elements be provided to it. Many cell functions do not even require energy and work by being structured to perform their function when, say potassium for instance, is present outside of the lipid bilayer. Even the energy production mechanisms of the cell basically only require the presence of oxygen and water in order to function. The energy production mechanism produces ATP, when energy is needed one of the phosphate groups is broken off providing hydrogen for energy. This would be the source of the electrical activity that they recorded.
But, any of those functions being brought back on line does not mean the cell is working, or ever could work. The cells HAVE to reproduce and in order for that to happen DNA has to be replicated exactly. In normal functioning cells any abnormal DNA replication triggers the destruction of the cell. We barely understand how the process of the DNA replication failsafe works.
If they actually got what they are doing to work long term there is an extreme chance that the DNA replication process would be absolutely fucked and would result in some serious mutations.
Julian Davis
Good post. You have a naive understanding of the brain. Stfu.
jews are genuinely terrified of death and meeting their Maker who they so arrogantly disobeyed
Jacob Baker
Your fucking mother.
Chase Myers
Pseud.
Ethan Foster
Well, time to open up those borders then !
Jeremiah Davis
Similar studies have been done in other fields brainlet. That's why rags like "popsci" exist in the first place, redditors always click crazy sounding shit and spread it but it's not real science.
Jose Collins
It could be awesome as a torture device. We can kill you as many times we want and vary the method and then bring you back and back and back and back. You'd wish you'd never been born at all after this.
>If you keep pumping a brain full of blood, it doesn't rot Oh geeze. So exciting. It's not we haven't had these medical terms called "brain-damage" or "brain-dead" for a while now...
But seriously. Getting some cells up and at em again by providing nutrition and oxygen, is a far cry from "reanimation" let alone "restoration".
Science is such a scam these days.
Brody Wilson
This is the closest approximation to the emotion I used to feel when I'd have those "everything is big and far away" night terrors, as a child.
Anyone used to have those? Made me feel proper churned up inside.
Nolan Young
I used to get that as a kid if I put my head back in the ocean
Zachary Anderson
Link to them, lazy shitforbrains asshole. Do I have to explain to you the folly of drawing examples from jewish science on a NatSoc board? Fuck yourself.
Evan Hernandez
You'd only be torturing yourself livelit.
James Bennett
But you'd live for how ever long it took for the sun to swallow the Earth. What makes you think I'd still be on Earth?
Joshua Rodriguez
Why they're calling her "pig?" To deceive the goyim?
>Do I have to explain to you the folly of drawing examples from jewish science on a NatSoc board? >as he defends jewish science bbc.com/news/science-environment-39054778 Science has been fake and gay for a long long time.
