If you all remember when both China and Russia stationed lots of military forces at the NK border, that was due to a joint China-Russia-US operation/plan to take down NK conventionally if they continued threatening everyone around them with nukes, not just for dealing with the thousands of refugees.

If the peace treaty/deal and the nuclear arsenal focusing/limiting goes well, Reunification is not out of the question after NK gets economically up to par with everyone and as relationships stabilize. Post Reunification is the only time US forces being in Korea would be under question, but they would not be suddenly kicked out post reunification.
Contrary to what the media is saying this was not a failure or disappointment to either side. Both sides have now figured out with negotiations where they are at and what the can work on together for future meetings/summits to ensure success for both sides.
