When did the American Dream™ die?

When did the American Dream™ die?

theguardian.com/technology/2017/feb/27/silicon-aa-cost-of-living-crisis-has-americas-highest-paid-feeling-poor

>“I didn’t become a software engineer to be trying to make ends meet,” said a Twitter employee in his early 40s who earns a base salary of $160,000. It is, he added, a “pretty bad” income for raising a family in the Bay Area.

>“We make over $1m between us, but we can’t afford a house,” said a woman in her 50s who works in digital marketing for a major telecoms corporation, while her partner works as an engineer at a digital media company. “This is part of where the American dream is not working out here.”

>Another tech worker feeling excluded from the real estate market was 41-year-old Michael, who works at a networking firm in Silicon Valley and last year earned $700,000. Sick of his 22-mile commute to work, which can sometimes take up to two and half hours, he explored buying a property nearer work. Although he said his salary means he can afford to live a decent life, he finds the cost of living, combined with the terrible commute, unpalatable.

cnbc.com/2017/03/03/facebook-engineers-struggling-with-rents-ask-mark-zuckerberg-for-help.html

>In 2015, according to SmartAsset.com, the cost of living there was "62.6% higher than the U.S. average." In 2016, the same site found that you'd need to make at least $216,129 a year to afford the rent on an average two-bedroom apartment.

>The article recounts the frustrations of tech workers making between $100,000 and $700,000 a year and yet finding themselves rent-burdened, unable to save and commuting for hours each day. In one colorful example, an Apple employee lived until recently in a garage in Santa Cruz, using a bucket as a toilet.

So is it all just NIMBY shit why they don't just build a bunch of high density housing in the Bay Area? Half these problems would go away overnight if you built a few dozen 50 story residential towers

no sympathy for these retards

Attached: move-nigger.jpg (800x453, 89K)

Silicon Valley is not representative of the entire country and most of the problems in California are because of stupid regulations.

Me neither. What a bunch of losers. Imagine being that bad with money. They can’t make a million per year work? Holy fuck.

>but i need the $10 coffee every 2 hours to function
make them list their expenses

160 is a fucking lot
how bad can rent be?

We need more immigrants and refugees. They're hella good for the economy.

Attached: HALAL.jpg (640x539, 44K)

I guarantee these idiots spend money on frivolous things. Many such cases of smart people’s that lack any common sense.

5-8k a month
>160k
most of those figures are before taxes

>Hurr I cant live in Palo Alto.

Fuck off with this shit. request a transfer or work from home

move some where else then
dopes

>clever enough to get a six figure job
>doesn't do a prospective budget to find out how much disposable income they'll have after costs, deductions and savings
kek. too many people are just dumb. getting a SV software job doesn't mean you are clever, it just means you have software skills of a sufficient level. they've been tricked by taco thursday, scooters in the halls and free laundry.

yes. Boomers don't want property values to drop so the housing market is kept inflated.

This
>eat out every day
>gotta have muh designer coffee 6 times a day
>microbrews after work
>organic handcut avocado flavored potato chips

>valet parking instead of steet or garage parking
>10 subscription services for entertainment
>go on expensive vacations
>shop exclusively at whole paycheck, ahem I mean whole foods.

That's what you get with high property taxes and high demand via immigrants.

>When did the American Dream™ die?
it's dead and you don't know it !

European Great Depression is starting soon and everyone in the World will be affected because Kikes lords think EU is their precious child and they should have to save it

Unfortunately for them i have a message ...

We have entered the reboot state and we will not support any financial trick you will do

we are going to die all but first the boomers and this will be our greatest moment

it will be the greatest day when the boomer cancer leave this world and free it for ever

Thanks for update my leafy fren

makes me think of that Curb Your Enthusian show... Larry David walking around with his wallet out spending left and right. Who lives like that?

As soon as anglos handed their country over to kikes.

I work 4 hours a day, 5 days a week(plus 3 days off a month) for 20k USD post tax a year. Peanuts for westerners but my net spend per year is around 1k USD on dining out, food, utilities, gym etc. I live with my parents(I have the full top floor to myself). I invest the rest. I hope to retire by 30.

The cost of living in US is out of control. I pay 45 USD for a full month of my lunch delivered. My gym costs 7 USD a month. I can guarantee these will be daily prices in US.

I spend six bucks a day on average for lunch. Taco bueno is pretty good

Get a job as a chef at Wendy's™, trust me

Attached: HeWorksAtWendys.png (125x125, 2K)

I can make exceptions for Tacos. Good taste my white friend

Diego please stop shitting in the chili, we've been over this.

This.
Or the guy making 700k.
I understand taxes are terrible, but holy fuck that is a lot of money

110%. I watched some YouTube documentary about the upper middle class of Boston during the recession. This dude and his wife made 150k together and were bitching that their lives were falling apart because they had to eat spaghetti at home. Meanwhile I have lived 45 minutes outside of Boston my whole life on an acre of land, in the second biggest city with parents who made 60-70k combined and we did fine.

Well I mean Larry David certainly can.

Nigga pick up some hours wtf. You work 20 hours a week and can retire at 30? Have some damn ambition. Also retirement will drive you mad.

Nothing wrong. These sheep needs to be treated like this. I guess all their graduation photos and first job night party photos in facebooks and instagram are paying off.
"Oh yes I nailed it, my life is complete. I got a job in Twatter and now me and My girlfriend can happily marry and have fun." Yeah yeah
ff 10 years. Hahahah faggot.

American dream died with financial capitalism which started with the derivative. None of the big tech companies have been profitable since the first dot com bubble. Now Mr Trump the kike lover is going to import chinese and muslims to program AI for the USA on our dollar. The real American dream was based off of industrial capitalism and when investors chose wrong they lost money. That's why they act like pricks about it because they know they are all getting a free ride.

That is what SB50 is for. They are trying to pass the bill
SB827 was the earlier bill but was transformed into SB50 after a few revisions.
We also need to ban foreigners from buying homes and expand public transport in order to prevent the highways from being even more plugged up.

This. You're trying to tell me these cunts are pissing away money?

It was dead all along. You just didn't notice it before social media because privately held media corporations made sure you only see a glimpse of society.

Yes everyone is pissing away there money. But to be fair. Back in the day people could piss away a decent amount of money and still afford a house. "Pissing away money" actually goes to the economy.

Okay rent isn't that bad in the Bay Area, you can easily rent a nice place for 3k a month, it's buying that's expensive and out of whack.

> using a bucket as a toilet.

Unacceptable trash

All these people could find modest boring tech jobs with comfy benefits/schedules in other mid sized metros in the country, they don't need to live in the Bay Area.

When mandatory state education taught you to present yourself as the best slave you can be rather than how to be a slave owner like the people who mandated your education in the first place. Prove me wrong.

Getting paid implies you are a servant and not a master. The mindset that we must all aspire to be the best servant to an elite master rather than to compete with him as masters ourselves is the poison, and it’s a mandatory poison because department of education/brainwashing is mandatory and has lots of unbridled power.

When Boomers sold out our civilization for feels and cheap garbage.

>High earners becoming disillusioned with the system

You know society is fucked when its best people are unhappy with the current state of affairs.

Attached: 1555788712341.jpg (960x870, 32K)

The Bay Area will be the first place in the country to implode. I just hope I can escape before then. fingers crossed.

Its all a kike shitshow, this place is FUCKED

You would think by now Tech companies would start setting up in a city roughly 50 miles away to alleviate some of the problems. Close enough to drive, far enough away to be a different housing market.

Median home price in the richest parts of the bay area is still under $2mil. A couple making a million dollars a year should not have any trouble paying the mortgage on that, regardless of how badly they get raped on taxes. Same goes for the guy with the $700k income. The problem is that they likely don't want to buy the median home, and likely want some sort of McMansion, which is going to approach ~$5mil.

The twitter employee making 160 should move somewhere else. Some no-name business in a flyover state would likely pay him almost as much and he'd be able to buy whatever the fuck he wanted wherever the fuck he wanted.

where ever they go, other businesses will be soon to follow, especially since their workers are the kind of people that like to burn their money on frivolous shit.

A guy who has 300 million dollars

the bay is a swamp
if you put skyscrapers like that on soft dirt near the water table, your skyscraper will sink and fall over

It should also be noted that prostitution has been basically legal in the bay area for around 15 years. There are over 15 million online prostitutes in the country.

it died with the yuppies

This. Buncha millionaire crybabies

heloo from the naval base

These people deserve their suffering

>Democrats import billions of Chinese to drive up housing costs
>retards say "da democrats r party of struggling peopl!"
>democrats raise taxes on "the rich" (TM), which includes retards like this that make six figures
>retards honestly can't figure out why they're getting fucked in the ass, continue to vote Democrat believing that it's because of ebil republicans

I would say "no sympathy" but at this point I'm just fucking baffled how these people can keep getting dragon dildos shoved up their asspussy but somehow never learn from the experience.

>It's muh boomers fault I'm a failure!
Get a job faggit

Back in the day they could write off credit card debt. Reagan changed that. These retard boomers basically were taught that debt=good and are SHOCKED when told that debt=bad.

Shame on their fucking parents too, since they grew up in the great depression but somehow fell for the debt jew as adults. It's like people are fucking stupid or something to keep falling for the same tricks.

All you have to do on earth is survive on minimum cost. I plan to retire in the mountains. I have 200k of investments(some were inherited)

I like playing games and working on interesting side projects. I work as a devops consultant and have automated most of the stuff

I'm just confused about where they're spending their money. Their job should cover benefits on top of their massive salary, so where the fuck is all their money going?

Get a goddamn job, Al! You've got a negative attitude!

witnessed

Eating out ( they don't cook )
Online purchases ( they 1 click everything )
Rent ( 2-3K usually )
Gear ( they like to purchase tech stuff )
Porn
Prostitutes.

Oh I forgot one other thing.. weed and whatever other drugs costs an average of 500-1k per month for these folks

210687032
>Diego please stop shitting in the chili,

Its called "butt meat" now, didn't you get the memo? Ill have the office send it to you again.

So... buy bitcoin?

>Muh boomers!!!!

>22-mile commute to work, which can sometimes take up to two and half hours,
lol what the fuck

That's real... I knew someone who learned to play the keyboard while commuting. Said he wouldn't have survived otherwise.

Califuckistan is insanely corrupt

>When did the American Dream™ die?
1913

The real answer is Eisenhower. He was the one who sidelined authentic conservatives and embraced crony capitalists

I'm 27 working and living in SF at a tech company for about $210k a year. Even though my rent is fucking stupid at $4.7k a month, I still am able to save money.

I currently have 40k in the bank. These people are retarded and loving above their Boomer means.

I can say this is true. I spend about $500 a month on weed. Better than alcohol though.

>an Apple employee lived until recently in a garage in Santa Cruz, using a bucket as a toilet.

Imagine being so bad with money you make 6 figures and are still shitting in a bucket. Probably the same retards that vote for a 15 dollar minimum wage, UBI, open borders, and universal healthcare, higher taxes, and whatever other dumb socialist crap.

>When did the American Dream™ die?

Never really existed. Having huge amounts of land to steal and slaves to work can only go so far.

This.

It isn't dead. Many people are much better off with far less. The thing is, you ask for a raise from your employer, explain you're barely making ends meet; let's say the employer says no; you look for another job that pays you more. Spend too much? Make meals at home instead of eating out, and instead of eating fast food on lunch break, just take a lunch box. Make sure you waste as little food as possible; instead of making food every day and throwing most of it away, use discounts, coupons and food prices to choose what you're going to cook. It is also useful to have an estimate of the quantity of the finished dish so you can accurately tell how long it will last. If it will last relatively long, you may prepare (an)other dish(es) to add variety to your diet. Of course, it is necessary to include all food groups in your diet, but I can't stress enough that you shouldn't buy more than you can eat, that's just a waste.
Anyway, that's the sitch, bitch. There's a lot more you can do (move the fuck out of tranny-gay-town and other high cost areas, it's probably more cost-effective to drive an hour to work than to live in a shit area anyway), but I'm getting lazy, so shadilay, brothers.

Doesn't that solve a whole lot of other problems as well?

>Get a job faggit

i have a Job

My job is to destroy Boomers and until now i had many successes ;)

Remember, Remember the 1st of November

1-11-2019 is the end of the road for your Generation mother fucker

>I hope to retire by 30.
You win this thread by default.

hahhaha

That is in fact happening in San Francisco.
Put "Millennium Tower San Francisco" into the search engine of your choice. Be prepared to rofl.

Computer programming isn't going to be what it was once worth, because these people aren't creating the framework from scratch. They are more like computer janitors.

Further, these money printing machines aren't going to be ran by the engineers, but by the financiers and the marketers.

was that the one that gave wayyy too much power to local Govs?

It’s not exciting as it sounds. My goal is to live as frugally as possible with the least money and make sure I survive. That’s all. I hope to have more time for myself and for self improvement. I started working from the age of 16. I’m tired and exhausted from the rats race.

Ofcourse others may want to live a posh life and travel around the world or make huge amount of money. Everyone is different. They should do what makes them happy.

Also around 10% returns from my stock/bond portfolio makes me a decent passive income. The key is to save/invest as much and save early and spend the least.

When Bill Clinton became president

it's kinda like mcdonalds huh
ppl think google is a software company when it's a land owner

I think you mean fire bomb it

>spend money on frivolous thing
Absolutely this. But having said that, it's true that everything is MUCH more expensive around there, even mundane shit like milk and pipe cleaners. And of course, even a tiny condo costs literally MILLIONS of dollars. Even making 3/4 of a million bucks a year doesn't mean it's workable to piss away tens of thousands of dollars every month on your mortgage.

In the East Bay town where I grew up, small bungalows which sold for maybe $50,000 in the 80s are now worth well over $1,000,000. A bunch of GenX kids I grew up with either live in the tiny homes they bought in their 20s back in the 90s, squeezed in tight if they had more than one child. Or they went the apartment route and are stuck renting, or they now live in their parents' or grandparents' houses which they inherited. Like these three brothers I know--one got the parents' house, one got the grandparents' and the third moved to Seattle, works for Bill Gates, and bought his own 25 years ago. Housing is so crazy in the East Bay that old homes on postage stamp lots with in-law units in the back have been literally divided and sold as two properties. So your back yard isn't yours anymore and nobody has any privacy left.

My old friends could sell and move to OK or TX but most of them don't want to as they love their hometown and friends and family. So they're stuck, pretty much. Even elsewhere in CA is something they're only thinking about for retirement, and they'd have to sell the old house to manage it, which would then leave their kids fucked, and unlike boomers, GenXers don't want to do that.

This, for real

haha this is absolutely spot on
also:
expensive new yuppie car
expensive new clothes, watches, toys
expensive hobbies like skiing and yes, golf
lots and lots of pricey tech shit

The people who work for these companies are not the sort of people who go home after a day, cook their tea, put their feet up and then go to bed after a bit of light reading. Oh no.

After getting up at 5am to make it to work before their "boss" gets in so they look better than all the other freaks, they've ordered coffee from the new place down the road. Not wanting to appear poor, they've ordered it for the whole floor and it comes in at 250 dollars. After that's been polished off, they proceed to work 13 hours without a break because this is what is expected. When they do escape the office it's straight to a bar which sells beer for 15 dollars a bottle, and since it's Mike and Tom's engagement party they'll be having more than a few. They will then all eat at a restaurant that runs at least 300 dollars a head. Because they weren't filled by the Japanese Ethiopian fusion experience and the 13 percent alcohol Belgian Triples have gone straight to their head, they proceed to order a 90 dollar pizza before crashing into bed to do it all again tomorrow.

I cannot stress enough how bad they are with money. I've worked, lived and breathed among them. They're brasher than 80s London stockbrokers.

Most people are just really, really, REALLY fucking stupid.

The bay area will burn

Those software engineers are all employed by corporations, all implement Facebook into everything and they are that dumb to do it for free, to get more customers. Usual capitalistic nonsense of grand fail, where it only leads to your own destruction. What is popular shouldn't be used, since then you aren't competing. Capitalistic free market morons talk about competition, but then they all feed the corporations, work with them.

Nonetheless I understand that position fully, only difference is you make a lot more than me. This is all about what you're used to, habits and living standard. People don't understand that growing up poor is incredibly useful, as you learn what's most important for the happiness, money come's second then, you're able to adjust to low income and still not complain about it and find happiness elsewhere other than buying your way with it. Granted your story has been big success and you're able to save big buck for future plans/retirement and not become a spoiled POS because of the environment your grew up. This is the main advantage of poor people becoming rich. They are able to amass significant amount of wealth because they are used to living humble. This is a wild guess, but, imo, you're also quite charitable and enjoys helping the poor, not to mention your whole family, you find happiness in helping them all, and basically everyone around you. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I ski to the point I bought a second home in Zurs for it, but I too am amazed whenever I ski in the USA or with Americans. It isn't enough to enjoy skiing, it is necessary to have the absolute latest stuff. Some bloke in Idaho liked my skis so much that he ordered an identical pair whilst chatting to me in a bar. I spent an entire week fretting about paying that much, and I can absolutely guarantee he wasn't as well of as I am.

Cycling was also a big one among richer Americans. Is that still full to the brim with people spending car money on a bicycle?

The American Dream does not exist from the beginning of human history.
Americans are always low-paying workers for Jews.
Jews advertise the American Dream to curb their dissatisfaction.
