After Brexit, the EU needs a new common language

Which language would be best for Europe? I think it should be a language that is well structured, does not attract non-Europeans (so is not widely spoken in the Americas, Asia, the Middle East or Africa) and still has a wide reach in Europe.

Because the language of science/finance/trade/the internet is English. It's to far gone at this point to change that. Too much inertia. You'd effectively be isolating the EU with a language barrier.

So if there's anything you can learn from Orwell, the post-structuralists and psychoanalysis is that language is closely related to our thought process. If we construct a language we must consider this.

The EU doesn't have a common language, I thought a German would know this. It was never going to be English, German or French anyway as the other 2 would throw a fit if it wasn't theirs. Same reason why the headquarters is in Brussels and not a real country, they picked one between the three 'real' countries (even before the UK joined we were heavily involved in the set up of the EU)

Now that the UK is leaving (allegedly, I'm not holding my breath), it would be the perfect time for English to be the common language since it wouldn't be favourable to a current member of the EU.
