I just stopped talking about anything. It's not worth it. I talk to my dad about baseball and home renovations and my mom about the weather and cooking. She watches the ABC nightly news and reads headlines on AOL. He watches Bloomberg news and reads the New York Times. They're both so misinformed that it would take years of deprogramming. I don't care anymore. If they bring up anything beyond superficial, I just say, "Yeah it's a screwed up world" and move on. Fighting wasn't worth it after I accepted their childlike worldview. They were good parents to me. They just have no idea how anything works and repeat stupid mantras and sayings.
