If you want the full story then what happened is that initially muhammad's companions reported that Muhammad said that there was no such thing as contagious diseases.
Then later on after they realised how retarded this claim muhammad made was, they started pretending like they had never made the report and started spreading a different report saying not to mix sick with healthy animals. Which is exactly what the bedouins in the original report contradicted muhammad with and yet muhammad doubled down and insisted that diseases do not spread contagiously.
