I asked a jewish professor about this - he is a family friend - I said why do so many fake hate crimes have such badly made symbols. He said there is magic in that symbol. Depending on the drawing, when drawn clockwise symbolizes “the joy of life”, when drawn anti clockwise symbolizes “death and misfortune” and that symbol goes back over 6,000 years. He said there is a lot of power in that symbol and those who use it and know about it don't want to "play with fire".
So if you see a weird symbol it wasn't made by someone who doesn't know what it looks like. Instead it was made by someone who DOES but is TERRIFIED to make the real symbol but wants all the benefits of a "hate crime" with out risking anything from making an improper symbol and cursing themselves.
