In the interest of full disclosure, I've been locked up in New Mexico. The jail is about 80% spic and the CO's are at least 70%, and I'm not even on the border (though you could argue Albuquerque is worse). They ask you if you're in a gang, if you're a rat, or if there is any other possible reason that you might need protective custody. It is incomprehensible that they would even need to ask this fucking guy that seeing as how he's been on national news, but I'm sure he would have asked for PC on the off-chance they didn't know who he was.
