It's three point solution entails extending the detention times such that no one's released into the US until they are are fully processed, using "thousands" of spare mobile homes (moved to a field and surrounded by barbed wire) as the extra infrastructure needed to house and process these detainees and to end remittances to Mexico unless the government blocks central Americans from entering the US.
How are a few thousand mobile homes going to accommodate and process 120,000 new people per month, every month, indefinitely? You're going to put 120 people in each mobile home? And what about feeding them? Cleaning and maintaining the facilities? Medical facilities? Do you have the money and human capital to "immediately" achieve all that? You'd have to build a facility at least the size of Yankee Stadium (21,000 person capacity) every FIVE DAYS to house current numbers of incoming migrants (120k per month). With the proposed extended detention times, you'd have to build them every two days. Forever. Or at least until the third plan of eliminating remittances kicks in, which will be an inducement for Mexico to stop people using their country as a stepping stone, but Mexico's actual ability to enforce border security on their southern border is negligible. Mexico itself lacks the infrastructure to effectively comply with such a request.
The first idea is useless without supporting infrastructure, the second idea is not going to procure that infrastructure and the third idea is potentially useful but only 1) if it's expanded to end ALL remittances to central/south American countries to disincentivize the option of migration directly in the minds of their citizens and 2) if it's part of a larger array of policy disincentives to migration such as building a wall.
There are no "quick fixes". Your article quotes a fanciful person whose only interest is in political theatrics. He's not serious.
