I'm considering getting contact lenses because I think I look better without glasses, but I hear they're a hassle to maintain and use. Is that true? Should I get some?

>wake up
>put them in
>about to go to sleep
>take them out
Depends entirely on the individual. Some people can wear them for decades and don't even notice it when they're wearing them. Others get terribly itchy eyes, dry eyes, infections etc.
Best thing to do is to try it out for a few months and see how it goes. If you're doing fine with them, keep them. If not, get glasses.
>i think i look better with glasses
Honestly, i think this depends more on the frames you're wearing than the glasses in and of itself. If you're wearing nice looking glasses that fit your face, you can look just as good with them as without them (if not better).
>but I hear they're a hassle to maintain and use
nah they're not bad
just do thiswhen I first got them (8 years ago) I'd clean them each night, but you don't even really have to do that, just let them soak in the solution overnight.
They're no hassle at all.
Not advised to wear them for over 10 hours and deffinetly not 7 days a week. Your eyed need to breath too so you'll still need a pair of glasses around.
Also, unexpected things happen.
is there actually any benefit to contacts other than muh appearance?
>can see the shit that rolls under the a small space
>not bumping glasses awkwardly when kissing someone else
>>can see the shit that rolls under the a small space
what does that mean?
I won't comment on the other one since I have no experience on the subject
If only there was a way to search for infornation.

Pic related for example. The temple of the glasses bumps on the floor when I try to lay down and look underneath. Can't really get an angle to see what happens down tthere.
>doesn't greet people with cheek kisses
Sad existance.
I mean not really, they do the same job glasses do with a liiiittle bit of more effort done for “muh appearence”
But that “muh appearence” thing was significant for me around 10 years ago, since “nerdy look” wasn’t trendy as now. I could actually see how much people’s perception of me differed when it comes to first impressions when I switched to contacts. It annoyed me before that, that people couldn’t shake off the “shy, quiet, nerdy” thing unless they actually spoke to you more than 2 sentences (and then would be shocked and surprised that “You’re totally different than what I stereotyped you as”).
Now though, things reaaaally changed a lot when it comes to fashion, I even caught couple of friends who don’t need glasses, wearing them (sometimes even without the glass inside, just frames) because it’s >fashionable and cool, so the “muh appearence” factor in these times is not that significant I guess.
i just take a stick and slide it to get everything out of tight places.
>doesn't greet people with cheek kisses
i do that and i've never bumped into a person doing that.
yeah, I've had large glasses since i was a kid and now i'm thinking about switching to smaller ones since people just assume now that i'm a cool hip kid.
> stops wearing glasses
> never again able to use the glasses at key moments in dramatic ways
Contacts aren't gonna help that user. i say this as a person that doesn't wear either.
improved peripheral vision
i don't think that's true. Isn't normal human eye intended to blur out peripheral vision. I'm pretty sure you see details only if you focus on something.
Have you ever switched from glasses to contacts? Trust me, the improved peripheral vision is amazing.
The daily maintenance was too much for me though. may be right but I would never sleep with them in, and being unable to nap during the day was too much. Back to glasses for now, and hopefully laser surgery someday.
But if you're considering contacts, I definitely recommend you try them for yourself. It really is a big change with some nice benefits.
>Trust me, the improved peripheral vision is amazing.
how? Just a simple search on the internet will show you that humans have bad peripheral vision, literally having problems with determining the correct shape or color of the object. I have those sports glasses and they go all around. peripheral vision is still shit because it always is
So you've never worn contacts? Then why would anyone care what you've read on the internet about peripheral vision?
>I have those sports glasses and they go all around. peripheral vision is still shit
That's because sports glasses wrap around for eye protection, not improved vision, dumbshit.
okay. so the fact that i don't see anything inside the glasses doesn't make a difference? come on you smart fuck, take a book and place it at a 50 degree angle from your head. Look straight ahead and read the title of that book. YOU CAN'T. And that's well inside my glasses area. peripheral vision IS shit no matter what
>not bumping glasses awkwardly when kissing someone else
But when that happens I think it's cute.
Glasses are the best. It's like an accessory except you can't see if you take them off. I think it adds a lot to one's appearance and personally I can't imagine people seeing me without my glasses.
>Look straight ahead and read the title of that book. YOU CAN'T.
Can someone with normal vision do that? No? Then maybe what's being argued is that contacts will give you peripheral vision like a normal person, and glasses won't. Fucking amazing! Are you this much of a moron in all other aspects of life?
>only being able to understand exactly what was told, not understanding concepts
okay retardous retard. Take a star shaped pillow and put it at 80 degrees and look straight. How many "legs" does a star have? YOU CAN'T FUCKING TELL!!!! take a rainbow colored pillow do the same and say what colors did you see. YOU CAN'T. what's exactly worse in your peripheral vision if you can't see? what? no one's able to see letters, colors or shapes. what's left??? seriously? I see that "something's there" and that's exactly what anyone sees.
I don't know what you fucks are arguing about but peripheral vision is STRICTLY there to see movement. NOT to be able to see details of non-moving objects.
exactly my point. it doesn't really change with how blurry my vision is. It doesn't get worse with higher perscription
I find it awkward when me and my gf do the glasses bump, even after many years together.
>it adds a lot to one's appearence
Yeah, it adds extra 30 years to mine. I am farsighted and I look like a grandpa with glasses.
